If you’re still thumbing through 'Goodnight Jim Bob - On The Road With Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine' and now find yourself pining for the days of live USM action, then the closest you’re going to get is the latest acoustic tour by Jim Bob Carter himself. By “acoustic”, of course, we also mean “fucking riotous one-man show”.

To accompany the release of new solo long-player ‘Angelstrike!’ - released on his birthday, 22nd November, no less - Jim Bob will be dragging his table of props to:

Nov 22nd - LONDON PUB - Jim's birthday booze up
Nov 23rd - SHEFFIELD - Boardwalk
Nov 24th - GLASGOW - King Tuts Wah Wah Hut
Nov 25th - BIRMINGHAM - Glee Club
Nov 26th - HARTLEPOOL - Studio
Dec 1st - PORTSMOUTH - Wedgewood Rooms
Dec 2nd - LONDON - Bloomsbury Theatre

The UCL Bloomsbury Theatre date will also feature the first ever EVER public screening of ‘A Working Class Zero Is Something To Be’, a short film made by Tim Connery, Frank Rickarby and with musical accompaniment by another former USM bloke, Les ‘Fruitbat’ Carter. All dates will probably feature Jim Bob playing some of his (quite frankly) brilliant solo work and reading parts of his book. Out loud.

And don’t worry, you can still expect old Carter favourites, funny haircuts and ‘hilarious’ cries of “You fat bastard!” at the end.

DiScuss - Am I un-H.A.P.P.Y.? Does a newborn baby cry? Etc.

Carter were good. And I'm not being sarcastic.

They were better than fucking good and at last they are beginning to get the recognition they deserve. They genuinely changed lives and sang about shit that mattered. The best lyrics ever. Both Jim and Fruitbat are geniuses.

Re: (Angel)strike a Light! Jim Bob back on the roa

Haha! Phew! A joke, thank goodness for that.

I was worried for a second. :o)

It's no joke - Carter USM were excellent. Indie punk rock pop at its best. You can't put them in the same category as other early nineties stuff like PWEI, Neds Atomic Dustbin etc. Carter were a cut above. Some of their fans may have been fools but they were such a fantastic band. They still have a big cult following now and I for one am looking forward to the new album and tour. Jim Bob is one of the finest lyric writers this country has ever produced. It might not be cool to say so but I honesty believe this. As do many others.
And have you read Jim's book (even OK magazine raved about it)? Even non Carter fans love it. Its the one of the only books about being in a rock band that is any good.
Long live Jim Bob.

Love 'em or hate 'em (and I definitely fall into the former category), at least they elicit an opinion out of people; which is more than can be said for a lot of the faceless, bland tat out there.

marcus_tandy the way you rave about carter anyone would think you were their manager or press officer. However I must agree with everything you said, I have seen Jimbob live a couple of times and it is a fantastic night, I have seen 100's of bands over the years and still go and see current bands and can safely say that Jim still pisses on them all. Long live Jim ...... and fruity of course.

keane are faceless bland tat, and i just demonstrated a strong opinion of them. ooo that was clever.

I wish I could feel as strongly about new bands today as I do about Carter USM. Unfortunately I was about 10 years too young and far too busy running around pretending to be a horse to appreciate Carter at the time. Shame on me.

But they're my favourite band now and I've got to see them 3 times on the WTDN tour. Which have been my most favourite gigs ever.

I FUCKING LOVE CARTER :)
