Hearing Voices? The Young Knives unveil debut album
Posted: 24 Jul '06, 11:15
Supernerds The Young Knives are finally ready to release their debut album.
A full four years on from their only other substantial release, 2002's The Young Knives Are Dead, the Ashby De La Zouch trio's debut long-player will be released through Transgressive on August 21st, and is entitled Voices of Animals and Men. It will be preceded by the single 'Weekends and Bleak Days (Hot Summer)' on August 14th. The obligatory tracklist rundown follows:
'Part Timer'
'The Decision'
'Weekends and Bleak Days (Hot Summer)'
'In The Pink'
'Mystic Energy'
'Here Comes the Rumour Mill'
'Tailors'
'Half Timer'
'She's Attracted To'
'Dialing Darling'
'Another Hollow Line'
'Coastguard'
'Loughborough Suicide'
'Tremblings of Trails'
I asked myself what I thought of the album earlier today, and I was heard to comment: "It's good".

I'll almost
definitely not buy this, but pick it up about a million times when I see it.
I'd rather them not be so comical all the time though. If a band can't take themselves seriously, why should I?

Love this album
Rumour Mill has been in my head since first listen.
-
It is
Very very good. 'Part Timer, 'The Decision', 'Bleakdays' all really strong and a couple of random leftfield songs as well.

wishful thinking
I took one look at the article and album title and thought these animal men had reformed and were doing stuff... I was quite disappointed when I realised that this was not the case.
-
Wrong
Martbowski. So very wrong.
-
didn't they sell
a full album on their website 2/3 years ago ?
-
it's very meh
a couple of good tracks and an awful lot of filler or worse.

ashby-de-la-zouch
When I were a lad living in Ashby-de-la-Zouch it was all Idlewild covers that folk seemed to play.
Oh how old I feel now.
-
I've already downloaded the album...
...and it's quality. It took a lot of convincing but i've finally given in to the charms of these posh bucks.
-
it's good...
but not incredible.
button button button
