If you have plans for Friday night, I suggest you change them.

On Friday night at the Barfly in Camden legendary Detroit rockers MC5 will lead an assault of bands at the launch party for their forthcoming DVD - hosted by Queens of Noize. The details speak for themselves.

Impromptu live performances from:

MC5 (+DJ set)

MC5 tributes from:

Kill City
Thee Unstrung
C-Jags
Metro Riots

Where? – Barfly, 49 Chalk Farm Road, London NW1

When? – Friday, August 27th, 10:30pm

Alongside MC5 DVD giveaways, expect some rather special collaborations onstage.

MC5. London Barfly. Friday. Yes.

i thought you meant the MC4 for a moment - about the same age and as about relevant
- poor old Wiz - a tenner for anyone who can remember any of their songs..........

Re: MC5. London Barfly. Friday. Yes.

Ah yes Mega City 4, hewn from the same rock as 25th Of May, The Senseless Things, and Neds Atomic Dustbin to name but three and all of them without fail utterly shite. MC4 'songs' (if that's what you could call them) included 'Shivering Sand', 'Stop' and I think they had an album called 'Sebastopol Road'. MC4 used to swan around their home town of Farnborough thinking they were big knobs who'd made it when in fact they were talenteless fucks who gave crusties a bad name. Are probably now flipping burgers. That's £10 you owe me I think... do you want my address to send the cheque to? Cheers!

dearydearyme.
why the FUCK would anybody want to hear a bunch of hald arsed london scenesters "pay tribute" to the 5 when theyre there themselves?
td be like those mtv icons shows with avril lavigne covering metallica.

Re: MC5. London Barfly. Friday. Yes.

My Friday night plan is to get wasted.
Do I need to change that in order to come watch some old men hand out CDs whilst poo bands massacre their songs?
Huh? Huh?
Thought not.
Still, at least they'll distract the attention away from those harpies the Queens of Cocksucking Noise.

Re: MC5. London Barfly. Friday. Yes.

Getting wasted is essential.

Re: MC5. London Barfly. Friday. Yes.

Save your pennies and go out on Saturday & Sunday to the TDK Cross Central Festival in Kings X. Better than watching the MC5 try to recapture former glories in the hope of shifting a few DVDs at the worst club night in London.

Re: MC5. London Barfly. Friday. Yes.

yeah, there's only 2 of the MC5 left anyway - and their best asset the singer is dead!?

Re: MC5. London Barfly. Friday. Yes.

3 i think.
dead singer and rhythm geetarrist.

Re: MC5. London Barfly. Friday. Yes.

i think 'tributes' wasn't quite the right word - and the metro riots are pretty good live...

MC5. London Barfly. Friday. Yes.

I'm at Leeds on Friday, and I'm sure as hell not changing my plans just to see an over-ripe 3/5ths of the MC5 (the horribly named "DKT/MC5") attempt to run through old classics, while ALSO having to suffer fucking Kill City and The Metro Riots cover MC5 songs.

Even if you don't have plans on Friday, don't go to this. Go spend £5 on booze, KFC, another gig, a cheap porn DVD...anything but this.

MC5. London Barfly. Friday. Yes.

U wont get booze, kfc, a gig and a cheap porno for £5! Go and see a decent band instead of mc5. In fact go to Reading, and see about 100.

MC5. London Barfly. Friday. Yes.

I wasn't talking about getting booze, KFC and a cheap porn DVD all at once, but hey, if you want to go crazy....

Shame this lot couldn't let the MC5 lie completely untouched.

MC5. London Barfly. Friday. Yes.

you really shouldnt slag off metro riots until you've seen them.

i saw them on tuesday and they fucking rocked.

maybe covers are shit, but they are playing some of their own stuff too.

MC5. London Barfly. Friday. Yes.

DID ANYONE GO TO THIS??????????

MC5. London Barfly. Friday. Yes.

Yep, and I have to say the Cjags and Metro Riots both rocked. MC5 didn't, they just came on stage and distributed DVDs..... Another rip off by the moody doorwoman at Barfly.
