Discuss, if you like...

Q Awards: winners

I think these results sum up Q...bland, predictable and about 3 years out of date.

Re: Q Awards: winners

Three years, 10 years, some cases 15-25years, who's counting?

Q Awards: winners

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz"razorligh......zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

dull.

Q Awards: winners

I'm glad Muse won.

Q Awards: winners

I may be grossly misinformed BUT what has Shane McGowan done, apart from services to the Dental Industry, to deserve an award of Merit?

Q Awards: winners

Was'nt this like 3 weeks ago? good journalism mike, almost as good as the reading and leeds review which was 3 weeks after it, sort yourself out DiS

Re: Q Awards: winners

This took place yesterday lunch time actually. And it was probably an afterthought, so all credit to DiS for giving it the 'on the ball' credit it doesn't deserve. 'See It In a Boy's Eyes' best single?! It's not even Jamelia's best fucking single!

Q Awards: winners

Mick Jones winning best producer is like Pete Doherty winning an award for good attendance.
It's a good album but it isn't very well produced.

Q Awards: winners

Mick Jones winning best producer is an atrocity. I'm not kidding. I couldn't give a crap about the others, they're what you expect, but the one lot of awards that actually attempts to do something to honour producers and who do they give the bloody award to? A "name" who just happened to have his name on the year's biggest controversy. And with so many deserving producers out there as well! Aagggh!

Q Awards: winners

Who decides this?
Is it the Q readers?

IF so, it's hardly surprising.

Anyone who can afford to spend £4 on a glossy mag full of Bono and Chris Martinalikes and still bother to vote must be a bit silly no?

Q Awards: winners

If the Chilis really are the best band in the world today then armegeddon can't come soon enough.

As for Roxy Music, I used to quite like them but since Ferry's son turned out to be one of those total cunts from the bloodsports-for-me-and-fuck-the-rest-of-you alliance I can't bring myself to listen to them anymore.

Hmmm. May start a thread on this...

Q Awards: winners

nice for muse
the rest = pants

Q Awards: winners

appaling in every way. i literally cannot comprehend how keane won best album. even if, at a stretch, you could say it's not UTTERLY shit it's still clearly an atrocity; it just isn't good music.

Re: Q Awards: winners

Which muppet chose Mick Jones as best producer? The Lib's album sounds terrible (and the music doesn't help either).

Q Awards: winners

Just who did The Pet Shop Boys inspire?

Q Awards: winners

Jamelia? What the fuck has she done apart from a couple of lame singles?

Q Awards: winners

What the hell have The Human League EVER been innovative in? You can tell when people like Duran Duran and The Human League get achievement awards they're starting to run low on people to nominate.

Q Awards: winners

What are you lot on about? Mick Jones a bad producer because he made the libertines album sound rickety and raw? I suppose Martin Hannett is a shit producer as well? Wankers

Re: Q Awards: winners

No, just sounds like he taped them playing live, It's not bad, but it's nowhere near as good as the 'absolution' production whatever you say. And Hannet's production was minimal, agreed, but Unknown Pleasures sounds waaaaaay better than Jones' half arsed libertines effort....

And keane and radorlight? Kasabian'll win something next year, jeeeeesus.

Re: Q Awards: winners

Best Live - Muse - YES
Best album - Keane - YES..... um... and then it just gets SHIT!
RHCP? What's that all about?
Elton John? Don't get me started
Jamelia? Let's start praying!

Re: Q Awards: winners

Think about it... why on earth would JAMELIA get the seal of approval from a mag like Q?

I'll give you a clue. He also wrote a little song called 'Gravity' recently.

Re: Q Awards: winners

ah yes..... good point

Re: Q Awards: winners

Hannet is one of the greatest producers of all time. "Closer" is a milestone in the recording of popular music. It's one of the greatest statements of studio-craft as true art ever laid to tape. How on earth you can compare Mick Jones' slight, untextured, unimaginative, devoid-of-atmosphere, ten-a-penny pub-band demo job to Hannet's oppressive, alien beauty is utterly beyond me.

Re: Q Awards: winners

That's what they said about hannet when his stuff came out. pub band? go back to your keane albums.

Re: Q Awards: winners

"That's what they said about hannet when his stuff came out"

No, they didn't. They didn't say that at all. If you're gonna continue to namedrop, at least have some idea what you're talking about.

Re: Q Awards: winners

There was a few magazines that said closer wasn't well produced, because it was so dark and soulless so you can fuck off, Mick Jones will be known as a great producer in a couple of years time you will see

Re: Q Awards: winners

I liked him best when he was just 'Mick Jones, The Clash' and not 'Mick Jones, sometime producer of fairly lame rock bands'.
I like The Clash.
Oh yessir I do indeed.

Re: Q Awards: winners

yeah you come as someone like that. Ever seen the apparent 'rockin roll' guy in the film "bring it on" wearing a clash T-shirt? you.

Q Awards: winners

this is why im getting really fed up about Q....so bland so boring nothing innovative about the bands they cover - all really predictable!
But muse and razorlight are fantastic!

Q Awards: winners

and actually...the libertines album is ace but really best producer?? parts of the album dont sound as if they've had much production at all? Even if this is intentional it sounds awful in places...so he may actually be a fantastic producer, but should never have won it for the libertines album (which i love)...a classic case of voters going for style over substance i think!!

Q Awards: winners

This month in Q:

THE 50 BIGGEST BANDS EVER!

The term self-parody springs to mind...

Q Awards: winners

I saw that issue of Q advertised in The Big Issue earlier today, actually. It's also got U2 praised to ridiculous degree again.

The phrase "deja vu" comes to mind.

Q Awards: winners

Good to see Q pushing the envelope.
No safe choices there then...

Q Awards: winners

I still stick in there and buy Q mag, probably cos the Wire never seems to be on the shelves, but I dont think I will bother any more, its such a bunch of corporate wank.

But then I wonder why DiS dont ever mention the Notwist, possibly one of the most innovative bands around at the mo?

Re: Q Awards: winners

Because it's DiS, If it's a good innovative band your after, it's probally not here, they are too busy talking about "Do me up the arse" (do me bad things)

Q Awards: winners

i look into the ground and mumble 'jamelia?why?'

Re: Q Awards: winners

Because Q lost the plot long ago.

Christmas 2001. I remember it well...

My friends were distraught because the same week, Q abruptly pulled Turn by Travis off theie music channel.

You don't forget a thing like that.

Q Awards: winners

So how am I supposed to make a Human League sound-a-like band without people thinking I read Q?

And the Petshop Boys? My music career is already dead!
