With the gig to start at 8pm, I was suprised to hear My Vitriol still soundchecking at 7.45pm. I guessed that this meant that the gig wouldn't start until 8.30. I was right.

My Vitriol take the stage to a generally unappreciative audience who are just there to see the headline act, Wilt. However, they start off well, playing favourites including 'Losing Touch' and 'Cemented Shoes'. They then go into current single Grounded only to stop quite quickly because of problems with the drums. Someone in the audience shouts out 'get a drum machine', which didn't please the drummer, Ravi Kesavaram, too much. There seemed to be a few problems with the bass drum, so the band leave the stage for a few minutes while the problem is being sorted out.

As the band return to mixed cheers from the crowd, they continue with 'Grounded'. Lead singer Som Wardner then introduces the next song as 'Ode To The Red Queen' when infact they are going to be playing 'Infantile'. With Som and lead guitarist Seth Taylor joking about this on the stage, it definetly lightens the mood, and calms the crowd down a bit...although, there was one point when someone in the audience shouted out to Som that he was the world's sexist woman. Som happily agreed with this and carried on playing!

The band continued with 'Gentle Art Of Choking', 'Pieces' and 'Windows and Walls', before playing crowd pleaser 'Always: Your Way'. They ended with instrumental 'Tongue Tied' and 'C.O.R' which had Som screaming into his mic like nobody's business and chucking his guitar about. The band then leave the stage to a more positive and appreciative audience then when they first arrived.

The highlight of the show was definetly 'Tongue Tied/C.O.R', as it usually is. The band always put so much passion into that song, and you can feel the intensity coming off the stage when Som is screaming into his microphone. Great stuff.
