Hello folks thuesday I'm in London.
What's worth going to see for the next 2 weeks? I mean something odd, weird, not the usual tourist itinerary!! whats a club or a pub I HAVE to hang out? whatever to get my holiday super!!
I've heard of a an anatomical exhibition called Body World in Brick lane, Shoreditch (East End) with dissected organs, preserved limbs and stuff like this. Do you know if it was a temporary thing or it's still there?
It is not there anymore cos I was there (The Atlantis Gallery) t'other day and in its place was something else not as smelly.
I was there when the guy that did it all was giving a talk. He was wearing braces. I wanted to kiss his necrophiliac lips, but couldn't, or else I too would have become like his army of corpses.
The cross sections are fucked up - your legs look like sweeties!
It was a temporary exhibition I'm afraid... and it was great!
There is a club next door called 93 Feet East which is worth going to on a Friday or Saturday night. In fact, Brick Lane is worth checking out in general - have a curry and a few beers!
Wander around Spitalfields market on a Sunday - it's on Commercial Street, not far from Brick Lane. Borogh Market near London Bridge is also excellent.
Whatever you do, don't bother with the West End (Leicester Square, Piccadilly etc) if you want to go out to bars/clubs etc - it is hideous and isn't London, it's Touristland. Try anywhere east of Clerkenwell, but beware of Shoreditch - good for a laugh and loads of bars, but don't take it too seriously - leave that to the affected mullet-types!
I can recommend having an afternoon beverage at the NFT bar or Royal Festival Hall bar (Southbank).
Blimey - realised most of this involves drinking alcohol... sorry!
Museums - V&A, Design Museum and Tate Modern are all well worth checking out.
Design Museum is on the South bank of the Thames, just east of Tower Bridge on a pedestrianised road called 'Shad Thames'.
Tate Modern is on the South Bank of the Thames inbetween Blackfriars and Southwark Road bridges (or cross over the Millennium footbridge from St Paul's cathederal.
V&A is in West London Cromwell Road, South Kensington, SW7 2RL. It's massive.
Most of the Tate Modern and V&A are free, but some parts have an admission cost.
