      OK Computer

      Songs For The Deaf

In/Casino/Out by ATD-I is completely underrated by the way.

Californication as well, cos the Chilis are so damn big and have so many fans it will be remembered for long time.
      • Re: Best album of the last 10 years

All Radiohead post-1994. I honestly can't think of anything in the last 10 years that comes close.
        • Re: Best album of the last 10 years

To add to my earlier list...

          The Bends - Radiohead
          Radiator - SFA
          Exterminator - Primal Scream

          No doubt I'll be back...

              Shut up.
            • Re: Best album of the last 10 years

              I can't decide either.
            • Re: Best album of the last 10 years

              Isis - Oceanic
Fucking legend! That's such an awesome album! Anywhoo:

              Both EITS albums
              CODY - Mogwai
GY!BE - Lift Your Skinny Fists
Dillinger Escape Plan - Calculating Infinity
              Drukqs - Aphex Twin
              Cave In - Jupiter
              ATD-I - Relationship Of Command
              Isis - Oceanic
              DJ Shadow - Endtroducing...
Sigur Ros - Agaeytis *%$@ (fuck knows how you spell it)
              Fugazi - The Argument
Spritualized - Ladies And Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space
Refused - The Shape Of Punk To Come
              Boards Of Canada - Geogaddi
              Minus - Jesus Christ Bobby
              Pelican - Australasia

There are a shit load more but those are CDs that are immediately visible from where I'm sitting. Having said that, I doubt many of those will be recognised but they bloody should be. I guess it's similar to Yank Crime by Drive Like Jehu; classic album but came out when Nirvana were going global and Mudhoney were kinda lording it over Seattle.
            • Re: Best album of the last 10 years

Must agree with Johnny Cash: American Recordings 1-4. You could skin your knees on his voice, it's so darn rugged.
  • Re: Best album of the last 10 years

    In no particular order:

Radiohead - "OK Computer" and "Kid A"
    Primal Scream - "Exterminator"
    Beck - "Odelay"
Dismemberment Plan - "Emergency and I"
    Super Furry Animals - "Guerrilla"
Interpol - "Turn On the Bright Lights"
    Wu-Tang Clan - "36 Chambers"
Spiritualized - "Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space"
    El-P - "Fantastic Damage"
Neutral Milk Hotel - "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea"
White Stripes - "White Blood Cells"

And probably a lot more, too...

  • Re: Best album of the last 10 years

    10 (!!!) years?

One outstanding album, although it is pretty new, is...

"Room On Fire" by The Strokes

It will be a classic, people will love it also after 1, 5 or 10 years. A masterpiece. Best fusion of good solid rock, melodies you won't forget & hard working band.
    • Re: Best album of the last 10 years

      lol
      • Re: Best album of the last 10 years

        up the fucking bracket! x
    • Re: Best album of the last 10 years

Is this It? is more of a classic.
    • Re: Best album of the last 10 years

Room on fire...it's no Is This It.

None of those albums even compare to Up The Bracket though
      • Re: Best album of the last 10 years

Wasn't the question best ALBUM and not albumS?

I think the best album of the last 10 years is De-loused in the comatorium by The Mars Volta.

Although saying that, i which year did The Downward Spiral come out? That may just creep ahead if it was less than 10 years old.
        • Re: Best album of the last 10 years

obviously grace, and one of the best albums ever.
        • Re: Best album of the last 10 years

          1994-Downward spiral release.
        • Re: Best album of the last 10 years

          Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
          • Re: Best album of the last 10 years

Mineral - The Power Of Failing!
            • Re: Best album of the last 10 years

I know it's meant to be 'Album' and not 'Albums', but it's a pretty challenging question lol.
              ATDI- Relationship of Command
              Radiohead- OK Computer
The Strokes- Is This It (purely on the music)
Sunny Day Real Estate- How it feels to be something on
Futureheads- S/T (maybe a little soon, but i just got a feeling about it)
          • Re: Best album of the last 10 years

            Yes!
  • Re: Best album of the last 10 years

    • Re: Best album of the last 10 years

      Calla - Televise
Modest Mouse - The Moon and Antarctica
Interpol - turn on the bright lights
      both Strokes albums
The Libertines - Up The Bracket
      Jeff Buckley - Grace
      • Re: Best album of the last 10 years

        Elbow Asleep in the Back
        Ash 1977
        Interpol Turn on the Brightlights
        Doves Lost Souls
        Sigur Ros ()

thats all i can think of
        • Re: Best album of the last 10 years

not Ash - are you serious?
          • Re: Best album of the last 10 years

yeah the first album (proper) is great I think, when they were about 12. there a bit crap now but I stil think its pretty great
        • Re: Best album of the last 10 years

Hmmmm....an interesting shout for kissing sausages (most recent from Sigur Rós). It's one of those albums which:
          1. had me wetting my pants in anticipation before it was released;
          2. blew me away when I first heard it;
          3. became one of my favourite albums ever;
          4. dwindled in my affections;
          5. didn't get spun for ages and ages;
          6. got played again last night and blew me away once more.

I reckon it's got to be up there. And don't believe people who tell you Agaetis Byrjun is better. I used to believe that too, but I'm betting that ( ) is the one people will revere as the classic album in decades' time.
          • Re: Best album of the last 10 years

I prefer () without a doubt. A.B. is good but () is much more *perfect* I think
            • Re: Best album of the last 10 years

Aye, AB is awesome but can be almost Disney-esque at times (in the upbeat, string-laden moments)...

Whereas ( ) is a pure emotional juggernaut.

The song known as "E-bow" (the one where Georg plays his bass with an an e-bow) is breathtaking amazing. The way they essentially use one repeating note motif and build it with those soaring guitar/piano melodies makes me want to weep!
              • Re: Best album of the last 10 years

                E-bow, is that untilted 6?

I think the album is perfect in that every note, every word, everything sounds in exactly the right place. with some bands/albums/songs you wish they were longer/shorter/louder/quieter/whatever but () is just 'right'
                • Re: Best album of the last 10 years

It is track 6. So, so good. No one can diss track 1, track 4 or track 8, either.
                  • Re: Best album of the last 10 years

() is amazing. Ba Ba Ti Ki Di Do is one of the best E.P's ever.. but that doesn't matter right now. I can't believe that no-one has mentioned The Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
                    • Re: Best album of the last 10 years

                      Patrick Wolf - Lycanthropy
                      Enon - Hocus Pocus
                      Bjork - Vespertine
Portishead - Dummy (if it counts, not sure what year it came out)
PJ Harvey - To Bring You My Love
                    • Re: Best album of the last 10 years

Siamese Dream was released in 1993.
  • Re: Best album of the last 10 years

  • Re: Best album of the last 10 years
