Holy Communion: Pineapster goes online
Posted: 02 Dec '04, 09:56
Leicester-based promoters Pineapster have taken another step towards securing regular gigs for unsigned bands in the East Midlands. Thanks to local charity organisation Charnwood Arts, Pineapster have been provided the funding to create their own website (www.pineapster.co.uk) which will greatly assist them in promoting the East Midlands music scene.
In order to commemorate this, a regular, monthly non-profit showcase of local music will take place, known as Communion, starting this Friday (3rd December) with the Xmas Communion at The Sumo in Leicester, which features The Enchantment Under The Sea Dance and live sets from The Works, Kinago and Quartershade (formerly Atticus). Admission is £3 with all proceeds going to Charnwood Arts and the British Heart Foundation in memory of John Peel.
Further Pineapster augmented events to look forward to include:
Monday 6th December: Story One, Call Me Jack + Lois @ The Social, Nottingham. Admission £1
Tuesday 7th December: Satan's Little Heartbreakers, The Authentics, Ruby Gunslinger + Firebrand @ The Charlotte, Leicester.
Friday 10th December: 3 Ring Circus, The Fever, Computerman + The Tommies @ The Boat Club, Nottingham.
Monday 13th December: The Vapours, Eustacia Vye + Sudonim @ The Social, Nottingham. Admission £1
Thursday 27th January: 'Communion' featuring House Of The Famous Poets, Lo-Ego + The Displacements @ The Attik, Leicester. Admission £3

er, ah yes those cheeky Love Ends Disaster chaps headlined the October Communion,
the displacements have just reached the final 5 of the XFM school of rock competition, and Lo-Ego are frankly, very very good
Feb's Communion will feature former Factory records artist and Joy Division / New Order cohort
Kevin Hewick headlining.

Pineapster
Pineapster is a superb little (although now pretty big) dwelling for any confused local musicians / bands / promoters and, well, anyone really. They're some fecking great bands on there that Pineapster have helped/encouraged/laughed at too:
TEAM
Love Ends Disaster!
Quartershade
Lo Ego
Kiajaroovah
to name but a few. AND you get to have your own little profile with funny picture as well. Um, just like I suppose. But it looks all yellow and brown, which makes a nice change. Bye. -
Pineapster
And from humble beginnings...It's nice to see bands cooperating with each other and giving each other a leg up. It makes a change from all the my bands better than your band bollocks.
Anyway another gig people might be interested in would be the Lo-Ego Album Launch at Rescue Rooms on Sat 4th Dec. -
