Vegas showboys, The Killers, have announced a special one-off London show for February next year.
The group will play Brixton Academy on February 19th. The date follows on from the hair product tour of the country they are undertaking from January with bloc party, Futureheads and Kaiser Chiefs.
Additionally, The Killers will re-release their ‘Somebody Told Me’ single in January backed with some of those clubby remixes that you might have heard.
The video’s in the DiS media section as we speak.

i hate it when people re-release singles. especially ones like this, wasnt it big enough the first time round?-
Re: Killers told about single and gig
Yeah, god forbid anyone uncool enough to miss it first time round should be allowed to buy it.
Very average, overrated band.

Disagree - great band. Overplayed though. -

total hollywood stage school major label gash masquarading as 'indie' and therefore no better than Limp bizkit and Linkin Park - please, everyone - AVOID these bands-
Re: Killers told about single and gig
So in your view, to be cool you'd have to have grown up on the street, be uneducated and sell your records from a bin bag outside Morrison's in North Yorkfield?
It's about tunes.
No nothing indie than thou idiots really do ruin a particular good Friday. -

"total hollywood stage school major label gash masquarading as 'indie' "
Um, whatever. The Killers started off playing round little venues just like any other band. They just became popular. As for the major label thing... I wouldnt consider Lizard King to be a major label. Its run by like 3 people.

This band could sound a lot better, some how they haven't quite got it together yet. -
Killers told about single and gig
Ive said it before and i'll say it again..................

People were raving about this band on this board not too long ago, since they drifted more mainstream, attitudes seem to have changed!
Now i agree that it annoys me when people like a band because they are deemed as cool even if they know piss all about them (see Bloc party S Sisiters for instance). But it would annoy if people are turning against bands such as the Killers just because they have found some mainstream success!
You can't tell me that Jenny, Mr Brightside, and all these things that i've done are anything but great songs-
Re: Killers told about single and gig
i like all three of those bands. because they're all ace.
i think the thing with the killers is, first time you hear them, these fantastic pop tunes sorta hit you smack bang in the face... but they're somewhat two-dimensional in that with repeated listening, they can lose their musical and emotional impact. personally i still like them, but now they're something i listen to now and again rather than wanting to hear them all the time as i did when i first heard them.
and single re-releases annoy me. elitism's got fuck all to do with it, i reckon if a band has enough great stuff in their arsenal, they should be able to release something we haven't already heard. [it's not like you can't hear the old singles on the album.] though i imagine their record label perhaps doesn't think quite like that...

Killers told about single and gig
"ive got soul but i'm not a soldier" ............is enough to banish em to the same fate as shed 7.
the worst lyrics ever.
i dont think they're crap coz they've sold a few records.
i think they're crap because they're crap.-
Re: Killers told about single and gig
Well if that's the case then fair enough, as at the end of the day it's all about opinion!
However people that turn against a band just because of populairty annoy me, but if you just don't like them due to thier tunes, then fair enough -
Re: Killers told about single and gig
that lyric is utterly dire, and taht song is cheesy
but they're quite good really. i like most of the album. some good tunes....though Jenny does remind of early U2 for some reason..

Killers told about single and gig
Bullshit. The Killers are awesome, 'tis how pop-music is supposed to sound... Re-releasing Brightside and Somebody Told Me is a bit naff though... Could pick almost any track off the album to be a single... -
Killers told about single and gig
They should keep re-pressing it until it stops selling. Anything else would be poor business sense.
Course, in an ideal world, everyone would download all of their music for free off the internet and bands would live or die on their ability to shoplift from greengrocers and bakeries. Or you could write a jingle for Heinz baked beans in exchange for a lifetime supply, like what The Who did*
*This is a lie, though not entirely so. -
Killers told about single and gig
why do 'bloc party' NOT have a capital infront of their words? yet all the others do? -
Killers told about single and gig
They sound like Hundred Reasons (voice wise) and are totally overrated. I think Mr Brightside is a good tune, but the album goes downhill as tracks progress. Probably won't be around this time next year. Boring at V as well. -
Killers told about single and gig
Mr Brightside and Somebody Told Me were both great singles, and they were blinding when i saw them at Cardiff Barfly. The album was dissapointing to say the least.
i also think they're to 'big' to be headlining the NME tour. bet you a large portion of the crowd will be there for them, and them alone, and will therefor be very rude and talk through the sets of the other 3.
(that's what i'm telling myself as consolation for not being able to get tickets anyway.) -
Killers told about single and gig
Liking the Hundred Reasons comparison, i thought i was the only one who'd noticed.
Personally, I love the Killers. Their album is a goodun but blighted by crap viz. Glamorous Indie R'n'R. 'Jenny was a Friend of Mine' still remains one of my favorite songs this year. And theyre not too big to headline the NME tour. NME have nailed it this year with the line-up as all 4 bands share similar fans. Last year's was blighted by a bunch of emo-kid wankers who told everybody to sit down while The Rapture were playing until FFAF came on. -

"I've got soul but I'm not a soldier"
I thought it was "I got sober I'm not a soldier". Oh well. I do like The Killers but I probably wouldn't buy any of their stuff, although if anyone wants to donate a copy to me, I'd be more than pleased to accept.-
Re: Killers told about single and gig
I just think the album was rushed to capitilize on all the hype they were getting (weren't they one of NME's top 10 new bands at the start of the year?), and so didn't live up to the first two singles, which are admittedly, very good pop music.
Oh, and as for C&C mishearing the lyrics, on Mr Brightside my friends mum sings 'Open up my evil eyes, i'm Mr Pintsize' (i don't think she's considered that maybe it's not a song about a psychotic midget)

'Mr Brightside' = Good
Rest of album = Dire, dire, dire, dire, dire.
The fact they're re-releasing this when it went Top 40 the last time is just stupid. -

i agree completely with effloresce_sean, every other song ive heard apart from mr brightside is as ordinary as the ordinary boys -
Killers told about single and gig
Good news headline, quite funny.
I wish it still had the author's name instead of the faceless 'DiS News' arse. -
Killers told about single and gig
It was ok to re-release mr brightside because it was a limited release first off but I don't think they shouldnt be re-releasing this track again.
I mean it did well the first time, plus there are other songs on the album that could have been released Jenny or on top.
Its a good album if a little shallow compared to their live sound. They are a decent band though nice chaps too. -
Killers told about single and gig
Yeah..the original of 'Mr. Brightside' was pretty rough sounding...and limited edition. Everyone knew they were going to re-release it. This just takes the piss though. -
Killers told about single and gig
I wonder if they're just intending to release every song they do twice, therefore never having to bother writing any new stuff? -
Killers told about single and gig
i've been tossing up whether to go to their gig here in Perth, WA for a week or so. after reading this thread i think i've finally come to my senses. i totally identify with what gen wrote about their music being very 2-D. it does get tiresome however you can't deny the intial pop rock brilliance of a few of their tracks.
i think i'll stay home and watch OC re-runs and save my cash for the weekend.
re-releasing tracks is wack.
:) -
Killers told about single and gig
This band, the killers, is a fucking joke, please go away~~~
Their music has so soul, no passion, just avoid them if you could. I would not be here if not to post this. -
Killers told about single and gig
It does annoy me when bands re-release singles and albums.
However, I get more annoyed by the build-em-up-knock-em-down attitude of people, especially the music press. The Killers are a good band - maybe not particularly original, but their music is fun and somehow everyone I know likes them. They're great live and are really nice guys too - they're not arrogant like a lot of other bands around at the moment and Brandon's surprisingly shy! I think people should just give them a bit of a break - they've only released one album so far and they've never claimed to be brilliant songwriters like Dylan! -
Killers told about single and gig
The Killers are awesome!!!! They're such nice guys too (yet, I've met them and we hung out for about an hour or so after one of their NYC gigs) they're music does not lack passion - try listening to all the song lyrics in Hot Fuss and their unreleased and rare material like Replacable, Desperate, Oh Yeah and By the Way, Where is She and their new song All These Pretty Faces and then make your judgement. Don't base your opinion of them from what some morons have posted here and go listen to them for yourself and if after doing so you still feel that they suck.....then you're either deaf of mentally retarded. -
Killers told about single and gig
Ha ha! So only people who've heard every single Killers song ever can make a judgement?! Madness! -
