Have you heard the new album yet? The first 3 songs are great, the rest doesn't seem so good... took a while to get into the last one properly though...
stick with it...it's not as good as '...bright lights', but that was an unrealistic aspiration. Antics really gets under your skin after a couple of weeks. I think it'll be written off by critics on its official release but there's lots of good songs.
In Shreds is a great song, but i don't see any interpol comparison at all. It's more or less early shoegaze stuff, reccomend to fans of Ride et al, and fans of post-punk; Wire, Magazine, XTC and so on.
Interpol manage to condese Joy Division 'Closer', Echo And The Bunnymen 'Ocean Rain' and The Cure 'Faith' into a whole career.
Was nice the first time around but this 2nd album is disappointing.
I'm starting to like the album more. The first 4 tracks are pretty incredible, especially evil & narc (which are every bit as good as PDA). The rest are plainly not as good but carried off with a lot of class.
or you ripped it off a file sharing service...
I always said their first album was great, but another one might be a bit much - sounds like i was right unfortunately. Ah, sods, I'll buy it anyway.
I dunno maybe i'm being a bit harsh. It has its moments... it's not a BAD record as such... i just prefer Interpol when they're a bit darker and moodier. And my smashmouth comment still stands.
'antics' does have it's moments, and when it does they are pretty spectacularly good...
...but they are fewer than on '...bright lights'.
i think seeing the new songs performed live may improve them... perhaps not liking them instantly but growing to like them over time will mean the album has a longer lifespan.
It's not nonsense! Seriously, a friend pointed it out to me and at first i couldn't hear it... but then i listened again the other day and it was just there. It's the way he sings in the verses.
