Ho hum. There's nothing worse to a critic's ears than an average record. I mean, what exactly do you say about it? "It doesn't particularly rock my world, but then again it's far from Radio 1's daytime playlist." The Faculty, right now, are average. Yes, their retro new-wave ways - all 80s tones, as crisp as polyester sheets - could yet be honed into something special, something akin to all those other once-average bands filling column inches all over the gaff. But right now, right here, they're average. I played this single twice, all the way through each time. I did this in the space of, say, 15 minutes. It was pleasant enough, but do I remember anything in particular? Anything?
No, because nobody remembers the average. Nobody remembers pleasant.
Remember, bands: fortune has forever favoured the brave. Take a risk, today.
