Busted have split
It's official. Inarguably the most influential pop band of the last three years have called it a day after months of speculation. Charlie officially left the band last night and the split was announced this morning. It follows a reported feud which has lasted since the final night of their UK tour, which ended last month at Wembley Arena. Impressively-browed rocker Charlie goes on tour with his band of merry men Fightstar this month, playing venues ten-times smaller than he's used to, but really connecting with the fans.
In a move more than likely designed to stem the flow of tears nationwide, the band have attempted to make it clear that they aren't over for good - Charlie just feels that the direction he was taking with fellow scenesters Matt and James wasn't the one he wanted at this point in his life. (Read: it's over forever).
Charlie Simpson: "I'm incredibly proud of everything that we've achieved in Busted. We've enjoyed some of the best times in our lives together. I wouldn't change one single bit of it. This has been a really difficult decision and I hope the fans will understand."

this was all planned months ago, they new well in advance that the wembley show would be the last, and its just been used to keep them in the press as much as possible right up to the end.
I wonder if he'll turn down the corporate opportunities that will undoubtedly come his way in fightstar.. he hasn't earned his dischord t-shirt yet-

I swear people have got to stop believing women and young girls when they tell you its immature to swear and call each other names. Its what people do. Learn a new word for dickhead/bitch/cunt/(fill in what you like) and then go show off to all their mates and call each other it all night. Much like you have I'd imagine at one or two times during your life. If you haven't you're hanging round with to many girls who tell you what is and isn't "mature" and you are in danger of becoming a bit to soft around the centre.
Calling each other names because your frustrated with some one else is part and parcel of being a well rounded person I reckon. I fucking hate the word mature, only knobheads and women use it. you know what pisses me off about this? I really liked them and they split after two fucking albums. That means I'm stuck with a finite amount of material I've already listened the hell out of. When I went out buying every scrap of Busted B-side released I had no idea it would be all I'd ever have.
Surely people can relate to this, even if you don't understand the appeal (or disagree with it).

What is sad about this is that people seem to have registered with DiS to defend Busted. Oh dear. You can tell from their user registration numbers when you move the cursor over the name.
I think the best analogy to describe Busted is the cluster bomb. The original bomb has now done its damage, and it will now release scores of bomblets (McFly, Rooster et al (and don't try to defend Rooster)) which will do more harm. It's going to get worse before it gets better.
I didn't think their music was great pop either. What is great pop is Abba, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Michael Jackson, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Happy Mondays blah de blah. I don't mean to say the Mondays were as good as the Beatles, I'm just making a generalisation. But anyway, even Justin bloody Timberlake was passable pop. This wasn't. Hopefully we'll see Matt, James and Charlie working in a soulless call centre in a few years time. -

k, i went to school with charlie (not that i publically admit it-lol) and i never really knew him as he was a couple of years ahead of me, but i do know that he's always been into indie over everything. Put yourself in his shoes-you're offered a bunch of money to do something that your heart doesn't really lie in, but you don't mind-ie pop music. I know i'd do it;it's not about selling out, it's just taking advantage of an opportunity! K, now imagine you've made a shit loads of money out of it and you've got enough to concentrate on a project that you really ENJOY;not DON'T MIND. Don't make someone a slave to something that there's hearts not in just because you happen to like it-think about who the really selfish people here are! good shout, and what's this I hear about James forming a new pop-punk band? maybe including Matt, and the drummer from an up and coming band "White Lies". Apparently its "Busted but faster and harder" so I imagine it would be quite good just without the wannabe punk thing going on. But I can imagine a lot of what I've heard is bullshit. I'm quite interested about that one x (and does that mean you went to school with Harry Mcfly also? or is that balls as well?) so yeah, good stuff x-

unfortunately (sarcasm? lol) not. I went brandeston with him (junior school) and then bumped into him from time to time through mutual friends (he was one of my mates's sisters's best mates) so i'm not claiming that i "hung out" with him or anything, but i know his history-coincedentally though on of my mates is now doing the sound for Fightstar (he works for synergy audio)-he also used to go to Fram (the school that charlie went to for a year-how do i know? caus i used to to there too!) anyways-for all the shit that's been said about charlie i think he's shown his true colours in "paint your target". admittedly it isn't the greatest song ever-but it's a bloody good song! haven't heard about James and Matt's new band but i'd definately give it a listen. There's no denying that they're a talented bunch-and....shock horror for me to admit......are probably better musicians than some of the bands i've listened to (any1 remember the sex pistols? Sid Viscious? lol) and OMG i didn't realise that Mcfly was actually one of their names! i'm gonna make a band with my last name-don't think "Archibald" has quite the same ring to it-sounds like a math-metal band-lol
