Snow White: Bored, Somewhat Detatched

If Thurston Moore and Chris Morris sat down in a white room full of Warholian art they’d invent and plot to manufacture Snow White. Thurston would enthuse in a drawl tone about there being a hole in the Sonic Youth by-numbers anti-scene paradox. Chris would say they have to call their first b-side ‘It’s Not Art, It’s Peadophile Porn’.
And lo!
As the heavens heaved open at the start of 2005 the heathens took out their plastic cutlery and started chopping up philosophy books, serrating the thicker pages with nearby Mclusky and Liars cds. What they make from these ideas and faulted sharp instruments can only be described as a paper trail of ancient mythical creatures with an hermaphrodite here and a platypus there.

When all’s said and done, Snow White may just be one of the most exciting art bands to come outta London in a long time. They make the Queens of Noize/Death Disco liberscene bands of this world seem like a stylised pastiche, like copies of copies until all the detail and love and pride is gone. As debut 7inches go, this is an off-kilter thrash a minute, ranting, chanting, fucked off, inspiration.

”But Thurston, surely it’d be better if they dressed up as gorillas and gigged on the tube?”

Just realised the possible connotations of abbreviating the title of the mp3 you have on the site and saying it's great (which it is).

The Snow White single is absolutely mindblowing... the best thing to come out of the boring, drab, London music scene for ages in fact. And you HAVE to see Snow White live this year.
I was at the Barfly gig on Friday night (incidentally the only Barfly gig they've ever played) and they were fucking amazing.
So don't dismiss them just because the Queens of Noize have added them to a compilation and booked them for a gig! Snow White are not a Queens of Noize band...

Oh, I wasn't dismissing them - I downloaded the A-side from NME.com and loved it so much I tracked down a copy of the 7" even though I don't have a record player ;P

I shall be at the Infinity gig, at any rate - should be fun.
