Even the Rakes were raving it up at Reading...I only saw the highlights on the beeb but they were going on about a band called the klaxons, so i thought I know, I'll type it up on myspace 'cos big sis was raving (forgive the pun) about a track called "Atlantis to Interzone." Well, there Myspaz was fairly interesting and quite funny...they seem to be quite an exciting band.
So what do you fellow DiSer's think about this new mix of indie with rave and glow sticks? I'm quite excited!
as is the NME
not that the NME liking them has any bearing
on whether I should or not. I like them, some songs are patchy though.
1 good song
1 average one
and a barrel of monkeys.
oh and a few good remixes
..
It's repulsive.
You are bang on, Sir.
Gravity's Rainbow - excellent.
Atlantis To Interzone - shabby.
Everything else - unnecessary.
Nothing particuarlly great.
The songs are boring.
their only good song
is a cover version
I don't get it.
meh they're ok
I Hate The Cover Version
And love the other stuff.
Im pretty sure that you're chris sardine
me?
haha
klaxons - not great
i think they are really boring.
It's brimful!
i want homies
should i message him?
Only quite
and To My Boy are about twice as good.
www.myspace.com/tomyboy
Ewwww
no,
utterly, utterly awful.
...
NME: "We are gathered here today to celebrate the union of Rave and Indie in holy matrimony. If there are any present for whom this thought fills them with a sense of cold dread, let them speak now or forever hold their peace."
Stealthy: "Hi, I've prepared a few words..." [unrolls a large scroll]
Although I was pretty mangled at the time
I had a lot of fun dancing to them at Reading. Just prior to this I had been raising my gun fingers to Lethal Bizzle
Blut!
I like them
um...yeah...
i downloaded
Atlantis to Interzone. It was ok, nothing special.
I really like them
But I couldn't explain why because it's not really my normal sort of thing.
They have good literary references though.
Nu rave
A chance for 30 yr old media types to wear white jeans and glowsticks! Pretty crap on the whole.
I just bought
gravity's rainbow.
i thought the singles were pretty great
but saw them at reading, and am completely convinced of their genius.
if you took away the neon and the glowsticks, theyd be basically a really driving, repetitive, catchy, melodic posthardcore band.
but add all that stuff and you have a crowd who actually wants to dance, and theyre fucking GENIUS.
yeah, they're definitely good at what they do
not that many great songs, but live they totally loads of fun and you can't really help but be swept up in it.
you can't hold the whole "new rave" thing against them too much, that was basically their thing and now it's kinda got out of hand.
FUCK YES!
I'd just like to point out I'm the aforementioned sis, oh yes. Atlantis to Interzone is a tuuuuuuune! :oD
gravity's rainbow
is a bit like a fisher price tv on the radio.
so: Good Thing.
i really like
gravitys rainbow and atlantis to interzone, hopefully when i see them live they will live upto the hype
Pass me the glowstick NOW y'fool
My favorite band at the moment.
But probably wont be in 6 months. I play the five demo's religously. Seen them a couple of times in small venues which was amaaaaazing. I'll see them once more I reckon on the NME tour.
Band of the year
after HOWLINGBELLS.
All their songs are better than anyone on DIS.
Just heard "The Bouncer" demo
I recognise that tune, isn't that the big tuuune on one of them ultimate rave albums I own as a guilty pleasure!? 'Eck it's a bloody good effort boys...does anyone know when they are gonna release an album?
it's a cover
Seeing them live is like
eating your favourite food, with loads of really entertaining people around you, and then being massaged by Juanita Stein from Howling Bells.
Oh, the JOY we went through when they first came on and the big massive one said:
'Your name's not down, You're not coming in.'
I even danced with an ORANGE glowstick!
I had green ones
And was on speed at the time.
I can't even begin to quantify what it felt like.
Klaxons - meh
Rubbish.
Swastika Eyes
you show a suprising interest in Toast PR and Toast Press bands...
(according to your profile at least)
I do?
Oh how uncanny
