Eels have hooked up with US punk/indie label Vagrant. The band's first album for their new label - one-time home of The Get Up Kids and Alkaline Trio - is released in April. Blinking Lights And Other Revelations is their first release since 2003's last effort for DreamWorks, Shootenanny.
Which is good, by the way.

Great news! Shootenanny was excellent

Hurrah! I can't wait to hear the new stuff.

Weird! But class nonetheless. Inasmuchas in many of his songs he portrays a vagrant style character.

I'm hoping for something as damn fine as Daisies Of The Galaxy...but I'd settle for a Souljacker or a Shootenanny

Re: Eels turn Vagrants
Shootenany was a bit weak in comparison to the other albums but they're always good value.

I've only got 'Beautiful Freak' and 'Electro-Shock Blues', but they're both great albums.
Eels turn Vagrants
and Tom Waits will be contributing to at least one song!

Odd. Taken from the official website:
"OK, OK... so EELS aren't exactly leaving Interscope Records. They've ironed things out and the new EELS album will be released on the Interscope/Universal Vagrant Records label, so EELS music will continue to get to the world via Universal, as usual."
So.. err.. not quite so indie, I guess?

I didn't think anyone was under the impression Vagrant was an indie anymore anyway.

I don't very often talk about them, but I really do like them. A lot. So it's always nice to see there's a new album on the way, though I don't really give a toss what label it's on.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Interscope buy out Vagrant because they wouldn't release Dashboard Confessional?

woot woot. although i do miss vagrant's indie days, simply because so many local (new jersey, for me) bands were signed there before MTV found them (*cough* saves the day) and decided they should be pop stars. i somehow can't see that happen with the eels though..."susan's house" should serve to scare away the masses.
