Yes well, I'm aware of the good reviews, i'm also aware of the 9/10 that both the libetines and the strokes second efforts have got in similar publications and i distinctly remember the same thing happeneing when bon chic bon genre(i think that was the albums title) came out, I also remember quite looking forward to hearing it and seeing campag live, then i remember the awful dissapointment of both. Campag velocet were terrible, bon chic bon genre was a very poor album in my book, it was always a bit of mystery to why they made it into the collective conciousness of music journalists, other than maybe understanding the clockwork orange gimmick made said music journalists feel clever. To be fair, from the press i've seen for the new album is very good and gives me the impression they may have learned to play their instruments/write a tune, but still the memories of their first efforts linger in my mind and i'd rather hear the new one before i bought it , and would warn prospective buyers off, without knowing the dangers they could be letting themselves in for.
