DiScuss: Will 65daysofstatic crack the big time in 2005? Are they worth the hype that's come their way over the last few months? Will their success spawn a slew of imitators?

i emailed them asking them to play in scotland and got a lovely reply. i do so very much like it when bands (or more likely their PR) take the time out to do things like this. the only bands i've had reply to me so far are 65 and oceansize. my friend chris, however, got a personal email from someone from mclusky the other day!

I like the idea of this band but I've yet to really hear them. Might pop down to the Joiners and check them out...

Re: 21 dates for 65days

i'd like to see them, but they are eschewing birmingham and wolverhampton in favour of.... derby. so maybe not on this tour.

Re: 21 dates for 65days

That's cos Derby is superior John. It's worth making that journey, you can get a direct train from New Street and the venue is next to Derby train station.

And they are ace, I really, really like them. Well worth making the journey to see.

Re: 21 dates for 65days

May I say the hype is more a akin to a big fuck off BUZZ among those who've actually heard the album!

So less of your 'ooh, is it too far...?' talk. You just get yourself down to one of these shows y'here? And we'll have none of your backtalk.

Re: 21 dates for 65days

do it. they were immense when they played there last year. and the support is always ace at the joiners nights too.

21 dates for 65days

our band sllab kindly got asked to play the plymouth and taunton dates. we are very excited!!!

21 dates for 65days

the norwich date last night was incredible i tell you. INCREDIBLE.

21 dates for 65days

The Marquee last Tuesday was similarly amazing. Incredible. Superlative. And all the other words to mean similar things. They were on fire, and the crowd got SO into it. It makes me think, well if a bunch of people who aren't usually into that sort of music can get THAT into 65DOS it can't be a bad thing, at least not for the band (even if it is for their more elitist fans :P).

But seriously, this lot deserve every bit of success they can get, good luck to them and I hope it all works out for them. I don't know if anyone else heard but they got a load of their equipment stolen on Monday. It's shit when that happens at the best of times but when it happens to a still very small band who need all the money they can get it's terrible. Fuck the bastards who did it. Fuck 'em I say.

Re: 21 dates for 65days

yeh i heard that, over a thousand quid we were told. real harsh, i know i save up for months just to buy one piece of equiptment, and for it all to just go like that to some thieving tit...makes you real angry.

Re: 21 dates for 65days

And when you add to that the fact that they're already heavily in debt and need all the support they can get from fans and friends, it just makes it all the worse. Next show I'm going to of theirs, I'm going to buy a whole load of merch - every little helps as Tesco say.

Re: 21 dates for 65days

i saw that in the mailout. hopefully they'll get enough of a turnout on this tour to at least start to replace what they've lost!

fucking GREAT live band.

xxx

Re: 21 dates for 65days

"if a bunch of people who aren't usually into that sort of music can get THAT into 65DOS it can't be a bad thing" - I dunno about everyone but most of the front row were pretty hardcore 65dos fans from before their album was released. we all go to all the london shows and jump around till we get dizzy. my mate's glasses got destroyed that night. a sacrifice to the rock gods.

21 dates for 65days

So yes... I wouldn't be surprised if they hit the big league (obviously not stadiums but definitely bigger and more respected than the toilet circuit).

21 dates for 65days

I'm hoping to see them at Oxford and ULU, after being mightily impressed with their album and marquee show

21 dates for 65days

Whats the word on ULU tickets? I don't know if it's even been confirmed yet or not but I can't find any info on getting them!

21 dates for 65days

cant wait to see them, they'll be awsome as ever.

21 dates for 65days

good album, and really pleasant guys. this'll be my fourth show of theirs.

21 dates for 65days

65days really are as good as everyone keeps telling you!!

also they have some good support bands at the two gigs closest to me, a top band called tired irie in leicester and an AWESOME band called public relations exercise

i saw them both at a gig at leicester charlotte on saturday night and they are well worth seeing as well as 65 days.

Re: 21 dates for 65days

I can't go. Which sucks. Have fun.

21 dates for 65days

Yeah Public Relations Exercise are fantastic. Anyone going to the Nottingham show watch out for them.
