The Lemonheads. Come On Feel is approximately 37 times better than It's A Shame About Ray which gets most the praise and the whole ATP playback thing. That is fact.

desperate youth, blood thirsty babes

is better than rtcm. i love both but dybtb justhas vetter tunes.

I agree with both

of these opinions.

Good stuff.

Come on...

better than Shame? Madness. Shame was the final album they made before becoming a parody of their former selves.

NO way.

The new TVOTR album is MUCH more consistently good.

new tvotr album

is the only album which gets a full 10/10 from me this year. amputechture was my other hope. but it doesnt't quite cut the mustard. I'm just hoping blood mountain is amazing....

i think that

experimental jet set, trash and no star and a thousand leaves are way better than goo/daydream nation/evol

Nah...

Confusion is Sex >>>>> Everything else.

two that might count

Eels - Electro Shock Blues > Beautiful Freak

Cat Power - What Would the Community Think > Moon Pix (even though it's crying out for a question mark)

Talkin bout Eels

Daisies Of The Galaxy = >>>>>>> Everything

not true

Electro Shock Blues is better. Well, I think so anyway.

bits of it

Actually that crazy noise at the start of Cancer For The Cure makes it better than Daisies. I just listen to Daisies more.

Eels

I'd say Electroshock Blues is the best I've heard, if only for the wonderful PS You Rock My World at the end.

electro shock blues

is my favourite. i also really like shootenanny which seems to get quite a bashing at times

:|

i was going to say..

moon pix > you are free

Transmit Disrupt

beats
The Neon Handshake

Agreed

with the Lemonheads and Kid A.

On the subject of the ATP thing, pretty much every Melvins album is better than Houdini and they still made them play that.

As mentioned before Big Black's Songs About Fucking << everything else Big Black (as far as I know) despite what pitchyfork says.

Wowee Zowee is the best Pavement album too, not Crooked Rain...

most people say

Slanted and Enchanted. Crooken Rain is better than both, though Wowee Comes second methinks.

my favourite is terror twilight

followed by s+e, cr cr and brighten.not got wowee zowee yet as it always seems to cost a fortune. this is stupid.

also, couldn't pick between beautiful freak and electroc-shock,which i guess gives beautiful freak half a point. the second half is perfection.

Miss Black America:

Terminal >>>> God Bless...

Seafood:

As The Cry Flows >>> Surviving the quiet

This makes me think, Talking Heads

What's their best album supposed to be? I don't think there actually is a general conception about one album being their strongest.

Or am I wrong? I suppose Speaking in Tongues was their biggest hit, and Little Creatures was a good pop album, but really not representative of Talking Heads at all. Most 'best' albums are quite representative, I'd say. Like Doolittle with the Pixies. You can hear both sides of the Pixies past and future in it, to a point. I don't think it works with Talking Heads so much, as there's no album that the band really hinge on. I suppose it would be Speaking in Tongues, though. Opinions?

...

77? Remain In Light?

I don't personally think any of the Talking Heads albums on their own are as "classic" or whatever as they should be. They obviously have loads of great songs but I don't think they made a great album.

.

They're a bit too bitty for most people/general consumption, I'd say. It seems to me that Speaking in Tongues pivoted them back to pop from Remain in Light.

Oh, and His n Hers is better than Different Class. Fact. I do love both incredibly, mind.

Tigermilk > ...Sinister.

Although, only just, in my opinion.

i dont think there's much between

those two albums ^

fold your hands child... > the last two albums i think.

yes

tigermilk > sinister > arab strap > fold your hands > dear catastrophe waitress > whatever the last one was called.

no way

the averageness of pink glove, happy endings and someone like the moon, as well as the fact that his n hers is missing tons of songs better than the album tracks that were recorded at the same sessions (his n hers, seconds, your sisters clothes, street lites) to me makes it a slightly flawed classic, whereas different class is 100% perfect throughout.

If you think

"someone like the moon" is average then I think you have fundamentally failed to grasp a major dimension of Pulp.

.

His N Hers > Different Class.

See Joyriders & Acrylic Afternoons for proof.

Lovey

is better than the pair of them.

...

Tenneage Fanclub.
Bandwagonesque is a bit rubbish, yet Grand Prix rules to bits.

christ...

i should learn to spell / type / whatever

Grand Prix is indeed the better album

I guess I think Mercury Rev's All is Dream is a better album than Deserter's Songs (which has great moments but a fair bit of filler).

I also think "You Can Have It So Much Better" is a much better album than the Franz debut.

Oh and "Abbey Road" is miles better than "Revolver" but I imagine everyone knows that ;)

<.>

agree on electro-shock

reckon it's a toss up between the bends and kid A

I'm a Magical Mystery Tour fan myself, but think there are about four equal-ish beatles albums

nah.

I am going to be a twunt and say that the 2 best 'head albums are The Bends and Hail to the Thief. I mean, Hail to the Thief has Scatterbrain, Myxomatosis and Wolf at the Door on it.

Although their best SONG is Motion Picture Soundtrack on Kid A.

And I agree with JQ about Daisies of the Galaxy. Super super super album.

and...

music critics always say that the best divine comedy album is casanova. it isn't. it's promenade HANDS DOWN

Liberation's great too.

But Promenade probably wins on acount of Tonight We Fly.

you

die now

Nothing is better than Loveless

i agree with the lady on MBV

other examples..
badmotorfinger > superunknown.

trompe le monde > doolittle+surfer rosa

crocodiles > ocean rain

pixies

bossanova > anything else they did

controversial, no?

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

COCK OFF!!!

LOVELESS >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> isnt anything

no.

this could deserve its own thread :)

isnt anything > loveless

FOR THE FINAL TIME!!

You can get hanged for that in some countries.

Like this one.
Anyone wanna form a posse with me?
Flowers is toast.

......................

.............................................................................................. it doesnt look like they do, does it? :p

Posse me up

loveless pisses all over isnt anything. only shallow soon and sometimes are the best songs mbv wrote. and the best songs from that year most probably.

make the thread!

any excust to talk about mbv. :)
loveless IS better though.

i knew that MBV would

be brought up.
i'm actually surprised it took as long as it did.
ANYWAY: WRONG WRONG WRONG :D

Blur (self titled)

Definitely the best

Pixies

Bossanova > Doolittle and Surfer Rosa

REM - New Adventures In Hi-Fi > Automatic For The People

ppffffft YA RLY

it's a perfect beautiful concept album. Deserter's Songs is patchy.

:-S

I disagree on this one. Deserter's SOngs isn't as coherent, sure. It's more like snatches and fragments and bits of different stuff. But I found All Is Dream a bit bloated and grandiose and with only a few moments of beauty peeking out through the guitar-holic murk.

Deserter's Songs

is like a broadcast from a parallel universe, and it's both very beautiful and brilliant. All Is Dream is much darker and weirder beast, and I like it a lot but I don't think it has the perfect clarity that Deserter's has.

Mercury Rev's first album

kicks the arse of the later stuff.

Fugazi

Repeater
No.

True

The Argument
Yes.

Primal Scream

Vanishing Point>XTRMNTR>Screamadelica

:-0

I hate this thread.

Same

Not sure I agree with any of the suggestions so far...

Dylan

Isis > Highway 61/Blonde on Blonde

Also
More Specials is far superior to the first Specials album, which is pretty overrated.

yeh but

Isis isn't the name of an album....
Desire is good, not as good as those albums though!

Yeah

Desire not Isis.

God I am such a noob.

And yes, it is better than those.

definitely

with you on the second point, but vanishing point seems like just slightly below XTRMNTR to me. evil heat would come next, and then all the pure shite they've otherwised produced.

Bjork

Vespertine > everything else

Bjork

I'm inclined to agree here.

i think

a lot of people think that... lots of my friends do anyway

Nobody I know thinks so except Mike Diver

everyone seems to rate Post. Which is good, but several divisions below the revelatory wonder of Vespertine.

Homogenic

is miles better than Vespertine in my opinion. I'd even say that Post is better than Vespertine but Homogenic seems pretty clearly better than Vespertine.

wrong

sorry.*

*"imho", if you require it

Homogenic

is miles better than Vespertine in my opinion. I'd even say that Post is better than Vespertine but Homogenic seems pretty clearly better than Vespertine.

actually

does Bjork have an album that is 'accepted' as her 'best' anyway? (too many '' methinks...)

Yeah, it's quite split.

On DiS, people always say Homogenic or Post, for some reason. On Plan B, people think Medulla, obv.

i agree with vespertine

it's so hushed and personal, i love it. post is great but it's too polar, there are songs i could play on repeat forever and songs i always skip.

medulla is fine as an experiment or something but i don't play it very much now.

the most obvious one is

Nevermind, when both other studio albums are arguably better, in different ways

Yeah.

In Utero slays.

Agreed

Nevermind is a bit ho-hum.

Bleach

Is my current fave, but sometimes it's In Utero

Change Giver > A Maximum High

LOLZ.

I don't know.
