Brit Award men-of-the-moment-again, Franz Ferdinand, are set to make their only UK festival appearance this year as co-headliners of the V Festival in August.
Franz will be sharing top billing with the Scissor Sisters on Saturday 20th August at Weston Park, Staffordshire, and then in Chelmsford the following day.
The announcement seems to scotch rumours that the band would be playing T in The Park this year.

hmm, FF seem a bit of a weak headliner to me, espec as they played all the fest's last year and are ever touring. -

Playing V only means exclusivity on English festivals... and even then Glastonbury is usually exempt provided they keep their bill secret until it sells out (i.e. for a few hours).
I'd be surprised if they don't play T In The Park. -

It's nice to see NME deciding all the festival billings once again.
Here's to Selfish Cunt headlining in 2006!-
Re: Franz Ferdinand to top V Festival bill
You seem to be a bit confused.
Franz Ferdinand = million seller
Scissor Sisters = million seller
Selfish Cunt = thirty seller
Thus, Selfish Cunt will not be headlining V in 2005.
But, seriously, who did you expect to headline? Or are you one of those who appears to delude themselves into thinking Scissor Sisters / Keane receive no praise outside the NME and sell no records?-
Re: Franz Ferdinand to top V Festival bill
...and how much praise have Keane had INSIDE the NME recently?-

Are you asking me, or the other guy?

These bands have only released one album each...They really shouldn't be headlining...-
Re: Franz Ferdinand to top V Festival bill
Nature of the music world today, sadly. Besides, by the time the festival roles around they'll likely both have second albums written, if not recorded as well. -
Re: Franz Ferdinand to top V Festival bill
You took the words right out of my mouth. In a non Meatloaf way.

Yep yep yep, such is the efficiency of the publicity machine...
combine mtv2/nme/and major label £££ in other advertising...and you'll get a lot in a short period of time...

Franz Ferdinand and Scissor Sisters as headliners is a band idea. Both only have one album out, and probably going to need to play a fair few new songs. I think FF are pretty shit live at a festival anyway.-
Re: Franz Ferdinand to top V Festival bill
yeah i agree, just think of what happened to The Darkness and how well there headlining sets were last year as an example. Both these bands only have enough material to be the main support, not the headliners. Headliners should be more established, have a larger back catalogue, should be someone like New Order, The Pixies, Depeche Mode, ....-
Re: Franz Ferdinand to top V Festival bill
they shold have been the main supports on seperate days ... with someone with like RCHP (it is v remember) above them -
Re: Franz Ferdinand to top V Festival bill
rumour is for new order to headline pyramid stage on the sunday of glastonbury this year. ah, rumour rumour rumour

V are REALLY going to have a tough time competing against other festivals this year. Download has Feeder, Sabbath and SOAD while Reading has currently got Maiden, Foos and Pixies rumoured. Glastonbury...I have no idea what to think of that festival. -
