Bloc Party have announced a grand old tour for this Autumn, following the sell out of erm, every date they announced ever or something.

Those dates are:

October

2 - Edinburgh Usher Hall
4 - Glasgow Academy
6 - Newcastle University
8 - Cambridge Corn Exhange
9 - Norwich UEA
10 - Portsmouth Guildhall
12 - Sheffield Octagon
13 - Birmingham Academy
16 - Nottingham Royal
17 - Liverpool Royal
18 - Leeds University
20 - Manchester Apollo
22 - Leicester De Montfort Hall
24 - Cardiff University
25 - Bristol Academy
26 - Exeter University
27 - Brixton Academy

Tickets are £13.50 (except Brixton which is a slightly more £15) and are available on 08712 200 260. We’re not sure what number that is, but it’s probably a ticketline. Useless I know, sorry.

As I’m sure most of you are aware, Bloc Party entered the UK album charts at number 3 last week with their debut album 'Silent Alarm'. Very well done indeed.

how can being paid to travel around the world playing gigs be gruelling? having a shitty office job you hate on poor pay with no prospects is gruelling.

I'm not sure it's a position you can understand unless you're there. Look at it this way, they've been on tour for best part of six months now without much of a break, and it's obviously great seeing the entire world and playing music and whatever, but then again they're also essentially cut off from friends / familiy / partners and any semblence of a normal life, and that isn't likely to change for at least six months, probably more.

Then they'll be expected to do it all over again.

Yes, it sucks a fair bit when bands moan about touring because it IS a privelege. But that doesn't mean that it's an easy one..

never say that, radiohead supported kingmaker, and pulp supported the cranberries at the charlotte, and there wasnt full houses at either of those gigs.

By october i'lll be at uni - hopefully in sheffield, but can't know 4 sure. I can't wait til August when i get exam results, cos no doubt there will be no tickets left!! hmmph
