Reading/Leeds: it’s on like Donkey Kong

Northerly festival goers breathe easy; the Leeds licensing committee has granted the Yorkshire leg of the Reading/Leeds weekend a licence in a fairly impressive less-than-one-hour decision.
The quick decision process is at odds with events of a couple of annums back where all sorts of shit hit the fan following the portaloo burning of 2002 and general scally-tastic rioting. However, the subsequent trouble-free fun of last year’s event held at Bramham Park (as it has been for the last couple of events) means that the Festival will continue as planned in the same location.
Mean Fiddler honcho, Melvin Benn said of today’s decision:
“This is great news... we can now look forward to another three days of great music and world famous bands in 2005.”
The Beer-Sponsored Weekend, Reading and Leeds Festivals take place from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th August.

Reading/Leeds: it’s on like Donkey Kong
Music-wise, hooray!
But nothing will ever detract from the fact that Carling tastes like piss.-
Re: Reading/Leeds: it’s on like Donkey Kong
Pfft, my piss tastes better than Carling.
Probably.

Last year i missed the futureheads and the firey furnaces beucase of the botched up letting people in system they had. I was not impressed. They better get their act together this year...
And better music PLEASE!!! -

As long as Vanilla Ice plays I am happy. -

Get there earlier, then. I learnt that when I missed thisGIRL on the Carling Stage in 2002. To be honest, most festivals are all about looking past theshite main stage acts anyway (such as last year, where I pretty much avoided it altogether - excepting Green Day and Hundred Reasons). You can guarantee that the main stage this year (as last year) will be packed with newest line of NME hype-jobs and some teeny-bopper bands. -

carling doesnt taste of piss, it tastes of soap. its horrible either way. -

i can't really escape from the fact that the carling weekend is run like a nazi holiday camp.
the fact that there is a separate arena and camping area is shady, as is the fact that you can't take your own booze/water/whatever into aforementioned arena because they want you to resort to Carling. and also the fact that everyone gets thrown out back into the campsite after x o clock isn't good. the scenery is shit. the security are no good.
the atmosphere is threatening at best....am i missing something?-
Re: Reading/Leeds: it’s on like Donkey Kong
The music is great and no hippes.-
Re: Reading/Leeds: it’s on like Donkey Kong
I agree with both of the above. I hate the site and the organisation, but for mainstream and new music all in one place it's pretty unbeatable. There must be a way of doing it without it being such a mess, surely? I don't expect luxury... queues for loos and pissing rain are all part of the experience. Doesn't mean we should have to be treated like dogs.-
Re: Reading/Leeds: it’s on like Donkey Kong
Leeds is always more relaxed and chilled (and organised) than Reading - I got in for every opening act without having to queue before hand. Plus Leeds got RoboChrist last year & Reading didn't.
And everyone did torch the campsite on the Mon morning - just not the portaloos...

Agreed. I'll still go though if I can't get tickets for Glastonbury.
