Texan rockers ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead will release their latest single 'And the Rest Will Follow' this month on March 21st. The track comes from their album 'Worlds Apart,' released in late January of this year and will be available on 10'' picture disc.

The disc will feature two (somewhat peculiar) B-side tracks, which includes covers of Genesis' 'Back In New York City,' and The Monkees' 'The Porpoise Song' (the title track from the group's slightly misunderstood feature film attempt, Head).

In addition to this release, the group has announced a set of UK tour dates for the later half of March, including stops at the following venues:

MARCH
17 London Electric Ballroom
18 Nottingham Rescue Rooms
19 Manchester Academy 2
20 Glasglow QMU

It's one of the best songs from the album, although not as entirely fantastic as Caterwaul.

i really like that Monkees song. Haven't seen 'Head' but want to. Isn't it out on DVD yet?

And AYWKUBTTOD haven't written a better song than 'Mistakes and Regrets'. Non?

Re: New single and UK dates from Trail of Dead

It was there that I saw you
Heart in the Hand of the Matter
Mark David Chapman
Prince with a thousand Enemies.

i'd say they're all up there with M&R....

Re: New single and UK dates from Trail of Dead

nonsense.

richter scale madness is supoib, as is the title track off worlds apart, and totally natural... mistakes and regrets is maybe one of their most instant songs, but they've got a wealth of great stuff.

i'm very excited about the electric ballroom show.

Those bsides already came out before the lp on the 'worlds apart' single. Theyr alright, not too impressed with them, Buckley's lofi back in NYC is better ithink. Why no Brum, boo! Maybe i'll travel!

I can't wait for the Electric Ballroom, dead excited. I'm still not 100% sure how much I like the new album - it has some great songs on it, Will You Smile Again and Caterwaul notably but it's just not the same Trail of Dead I've grown to love - there's nothing on it that matches the highpoints of Madonna or ST&C - that said, it has grown on me. And as regards songs better than 'Mistakes and Regrets' - Totally Natural is the best on Madonna, and also Heart in the hand of the matter, Another Morning Stoner and It Was There That I Saw You are better.

Save your money, Soapy,Duckula is right.

Piss off Trail of Boredom go join the ranks of Idlewild, another once good band heading for the knackers yard.

Re: New single and UK dates from Trail of Dead

'EchoParkRunner'.
Y'see, such a name suggests you won't like ToD.
Or don't, whatever.
All this fussing over their earlier stuff being better... what a load of indier-than-thou oneupmanship bullcrap. The new album is great. No, it's not as nasty as Madonna or as gloriously OTT as ST&C, but it's one of the finest releases of this year, so far.

Re: New single and UK dates from Trail of Dead

Seriously, i don't give a stuff about Tod, and somehow i don't thing their 'finest' album is going to make any end of year polls. Seems to me it has been forgotten already...

Re: New single and UK dates from Trail of Dead

Furry muff...
...guess I just don't hear what's got so many people so hot n bothered.
I think it's a class record.

watch the dvd that acompanies it and it seems to make sense. Ithink it's pushed them into a whole new field of opposition. It's grand and worth sticking with cus it repays you with hours of delight!
I first saw them in 2000 supporting foos in brum accademy. Id already got a few bits and bobs before then, but seeing that and following them ever since to now, makes me think they really are pushing forward. They arent so punk now iknow, more Beatles inspired than ever, that in my eyes is a great thing. Iknow alot of you rock n rollers will differ.

Re: New single and UK dates from Trail of Dead

Ahem, i have liked The Beatles since i was a a very young child and there is no fucking way Trail of Garbage are anything like them. That goes for The Monkees how dare they cover one of their songs, even though it wasn't written by The Monkees(they made it famous).

Echo Park is right, i do see the comparisons to Idlewild both have lost their original bass players over disagreements. I always did think Neil Busch had the biggest balls.

Why do people on this site insist on talking about bands they don't like, it's fucking stupid. If you where making constuctive criticism I could understand but why do you waste your energy with "this band is better than this band and this band was good but isn't now so I hate them" type comments. Fair enough it's a forum and everyones allowed to express an opinion but you look like cocks and personally, while I believe you have the right to say what you want, I fucking HATE YOU! I really do. I think your fucking it up for people who care about shit for no good reason you FUCKING CUNTS!

I don't mind people slagging off Trail of Dead, they're easy to be slagged off. They've always set themselves up to be slagged off from day one. From the name, to the aggressive live sets, to supporting the Sex Pistols with a load of 'Irish' punk bands, to an essay on the origins of music on their DVD, they have always done what the fuck they wanted. So why is it then that when the album gets the inevitable 'build them up, knock them down' bad review in NME or on Pitchfork, people are suddenly shitting on their music from a great height? Oh, I just answered my own question.

but it's not the one that sounds like 'Immigrant Song' tho!

Boo!
