Dandy Warhols: Potential Mars Warlords

The Dandy Warhols have revealed that a new album is planned for 2005.
According to their official website, the album will be titled ‘Odditorium’ Or ‘Warlords Of Mars’. Potentially, this is merely band mischief, but equally, we’d love to hear an album called ‘Warlords of Mars’.
The follow-up to 2003’s ‘Welcome To The Monkey House’ is currently being mixed and could be out before the summer.
Slightly firmer news is of their first single from the record. The band recorded the video for ‘Smoke It’ a couple of weeks ago, so a release date should be impending…

From what I've heard the album is actually called "Odditorium Or Warlords Of Mars". Odditorium is the name of their studio in Portland.
Saw Dig! at the London film festival and as a fan of both bands found it highly entertaining although slightly slanted in an attempt to make the two respective artists seem more polar. I heard there is a UK cinema release penned for June although I imagine those outside the major cities will miss out. The DVD is due out in the US soon supposedly with tons of extra footage and commentary from members of both bands. -

To comment and expand on what has been said. Yes, the full album is called "Odditorium Or Warlords Of Mars"... not one or the other. There is no Mars Volta reference. Odditoirum is the name of the bands studio in Portland and Warlords Of Mars is taken from a classic old Science Fiction book called "John Carter, Warlord Of Mars" (The first book of the series, "John Carter, Princess Of Mars" is being made into a big budget movie right now).
Dig will be out on DVD in the U.S. on April 12th. It will be in U.K. cinemas July 1st. For a full list of extras on the two-disk DVD set, go to slabtown.net.
Smoke It is the first single and video, yes, and has been filmed. Surprisingly, it was the labels choice to have that be the first single. It is a rockin' song, similar to the way the band covered Loose on their last tour. 3 songs from the album (none are the actual album versions though) have made their way out and about and can be found at various places. The second single looks to be "Love Is The New Feel Awful" and is a bad choice for a single, but this is still up for debate.
Self-promotion time - I run the largest website in the world about the Dandy Warhols at www.slabtown.net. Check it out, with it's shit-colored color scheme, some time.
