Re: Best Debut Records

The Fall - Live At The Witch Trials
The Teardrop Explodes - Kilimanjaro
Green Day - 1039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours
The Stone Roses - s/t
The Clash - s/t
The Shins - Oh Inverted World
Dead Kennedys - Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables

The first Miss Black America record was pretty decent as well.

Re: Best Debut Records

Appetite for Destruction. Not only one of my favourite albums ever, but also THE rock album of the 1980s.

Re: Best Debut Records

the first modern lovers lp is hard to beat for its cracked mixture of outsider geek chords and empowered vulnerabilty. and always that first dexys lp, never bettered. maybe tigermilk by b&s also. a tender tale of wimpboy machismo. oh yes it is.

Re: Best Debut Records

Pavement - "Slanted and Enchanted"

My favourite debut album by quite some distance.

Re: Best Debut Records

The Stone Roses - Stone Roses
Verve - A Storm in Heaven

Re: Best Debut Records

Manics - Generation Terrorists

If only it were a few tracks shorter, could potentially be on of the greatest albums ever. Underrated, but given that they did Holy Bible a few years later, I spose it's greedy to have more than one classic album... ;-)
