"We are so very excited to rock out with you! Check it out. Come on! Dance! Scream! Love! Bring your friends!! We'll be playing almost everything from both records, plus a few new songs. We can't wait, can you?!"

Thermals over Britain this April...

Please excuse me sir but, what is no-fi?

Re: Thermals over Britain this April...

Isn't it just really crappy production standards?...a very unrefined kinda sound. The thermals are good...shame that bristol is the nearest they come to me.

Re: Thermals over Britain this April...

Like lo-fi, but lower :)
I kinda made it up.
Buy their "No Culture Icons" EP to see what I mean.
It's brilliant. Totally raw-sounding and DIY.

Re: Thermals over Britain this April...

Lower than lo-fi, eh?

Sounds like a mike jones produced album.

har har har...

ahem.

Sounds interesting though, cool name also.

Thermals over Britain this April...

Hm sounds like it could be fun. No Birmingham though? Pfft Nottingham it is...

Re: Thermals over Britain this April...

I was thinkin Stoke. But might go to Notts one.

Bristol AR/2 is merely the bar for the Anson Room. Awesome. "No culture icons" is a classic song.

Re: Thermals over Britain this April...

I've never been to AR/2, but I've had the misfortune of seeing Jet at the Anson Rooms.
It's in the side bar, you say?
How interesting.

Re: Thermals over Britain this April...

I apologise for not sufficiently engaging your intellect.

I was simply suggesting that it's good they're playing a small venue in preference to a big souless box next door.

Re: Thermals over Britain this April...

Defensive, much?
I was only saying I've never been there and meekly requesting more information in an awkward way.
I agree with you totally. Not only was the Anson Rooms one of the least exciting venues I've ever been too, it's also bloody hot and the sound is utterly awful.
Sorry for any offense caused, sir.
And I shall see you there for some Thermal excitement.

Re: Thermals over Britain this April...

Oops, sorry about that! I seem to get the wrong end of the stick quite often on these boards. Anyway, it should be an excellent gig!

Thermals over Britain this April...

No culture icons is a fantastic song. In my opinion one of Sub Pop's best at the moment.

Re: Thermals over Britain this April...

I'm still of mixed opinon about this new Bardens Boudoir place, but it sure is nice to have a local venue to stagger home from. No exuses for me.

Thermals over Britain this April...

no brum, ah well :(

Thermals over Britain this April...

ok, i think i need a geologist...which one of these is closest to norfolk?

Re: Thermals over Britain this April...

a geologist? ha. you mean a cartographer? :)

Re: Thermals over Britain this April...

no. definitely a cartographer. that means a map man, simpleton.
unless you want the social implications of being near to norfolk.

Re: Thermals over Britain this April...

Thanks for that condescending remark. I know what a cartographer is. Social implications come under human geography as I'm reliably told my housemate, who is a geography student. Physical geography requires at least partial knowledge of a British map.
