  • and what exactly is the point of the rotters?

there just a worse version of the horrors. with that faris kid on drums.

  • rofl

'they shared their hair spray with the other bands'
its like 1987 all over again

    • abso-

fuckinglutely. 3 huge cans of ' ellnet' on their table. wonder if early lung cancer caused by inhaling hairspray will stop their career...and then there's their contribution to the destruction of ozone...so many reasons they should go away.

  • And they're delusional.

They say DiS has given them bad press, yet we haven't even reviewed them....

  • i saw them at electrowerkz with the slits

and they were awesome. this was probably 6 months ago now, and i had i not heard of them until the NME cover i guess i'd probably be as scathing as you lot. but luckily i formed an immediate opinion before most of the hype began and i'm quite happy to stick to it - i think they're bloody great, if, yes, blown out of proportion some.

and since when has "being able to play" been a prerequisite in their kind of music? they're performing neither wankmetal nor sheeny pop where tight musicianship is really crucial - in essence, they're a somewhat punked up garage/rockabilly revival act. i don't think they're any less techically competent than, say, the sonics or the mojo men. and do they need to be any *more* skilled than that to do what they do?

honestly, if they weren't getting so much attention from 15 year old girls, then DiS (and its readers) wouldn't be so indignant about their mere existence.

    • ....

nope, i'm indignant cos they're shite.

      • bloody grate

ahhh bless NME for a balanced view enabling us all to form immediate opinions before the hype began. of course they don't need to be anymore skilled to do what they do. THAT's why i'm indignant. or maybe i'm just sooo jealous no 15 yr girls pay me attention, therefore i hate the horrors. yep, that's it.

thanks. i feel i've grown in so many ways.

        • PLEASE

will DiSers come up with some decent arguments to justify their hatred of this band??? It's so boring reading "I hate them cos they're shite" and the like! And that band profile is just pathetic.

          • ...

What if they do hate them "because they're shit"? Are people supposed to make reasons up for not liking them?

            • I just

think there's so much silliness involved in the smug, self-satisfied hate that goes on in these threads.

It's just all a bit, well, *shite*. I don't even know much about the horrors, but I tell you what is much more embarrassing and nauseous than that band and its wares and that is otherwise intelligent and reasonable DiSers making total twats of themselves by CONSTANTLY saying bands are "shite" and not providing any decent discussion or debate around their reasoning.

          • reasons

            - they're shit
            - their music is shite
            - they arent very good
            - they are rubbish
            - they do not make good music
            - their music has a strong hint of shite about it
            - their music is poor
            - they are rubbish
            - their music is shite
            - their music is shite
            - their music is shite
            - their music is shite
            - they're shit

            • Clarity through words

              And seconded...

Actually, I brought a thread up about them playing the Club NME birthday last week. As it happens, I went to that gig and they completely failed to live up to any expectation I may have had. Before the gig, I thought 'NME cover band, garage rock genre' - there must be something in there for me. But absolutely not - not a hook to hear, or a riff to enjoy. They have zero talent, and are living off an NME bandwagon, that most other music weekly's or monthly's aren't taking any notice of.
