am i the only one that feels ashamed?"
i want a mats reunion :-(
a live one. not just some admittedly fantastic new songs. live. replacements. in my face. i know that tim and let it be would clearly have been my gateway albums if i'd been born 10 years earlier. damn their dirty eyes for being around before my time.
i am praying that the whigs will realise how amazing they were whilst in the studio doing the new tracks for their rhino comp so that maybe i'll at least see one of the US alt rock bands that i foolishly missed.
so yeh, anyway, bands that you kick yourself for missing because you were just a little too late?
i would also say jeff buckley, who played at portsmouth fugging wedgewood rooms, and faith no more, who i missed by about 2 months. damn me.
I REALLY would like to have seen
Teardrop Explodes live
I saw Julian Cope dancing on stage at an Icicle Works gig
He was leather pants
*wearing
yes
a normally unforgivable sin but in the case of mr Cope it's one I can overlook
I would love a Replacements reunion
I'm going to listen to Let It Be right now. Also, the last three songs on Tim are the best last three songs on any album, ever.
I want to have been a part of the US indie rock thing in the 1980s, but sadly I was born to late and on the wrong continent.
indeed.
I'm only gonna list
bands that I could concievably have seen, The 'Mats were around in my lifetime, but there was NO chance of me flying to Minnesota aged 5.
At The Drive-In
The Get Up Kids
The Smashing Pumpkins
Grandaddy
McLuskey
Mclusky.
Mclusky!!!!!!!!!!!!!
incidentally
i watched mclusky for several songs at reading a few years ago, but they were too loud and i was hungover so i went and watched the super furry animals instead. not my smartest choice, given they split up a few months later...
Not the welsh band
McLusky
there is an old school emo band called McLuskey. They banned McLusky from using their name in America.
Which is why they never made it big there.
they could have always been
The Cardiff Mclusky?
fair enough
i apoloise.
but it's still Mclusky, not McLusky :P
PAVEMENT
Also, this gig, which I saw advertised and didn't go to: http://www.drownedinsound.com/event/view/931
Yeah, apparently I'm a fucking idiot.
Jimi Hendrix?
Magazine
i'll always regret
deciding i couldn't be arsed to get a ticket for iron and wine supported by sufjan stevens in brighton. what an idiot. and yes, i'd love to see a replacements reunion too. some good replacements rarities on captainsdead.com if you search under "boink!" and replacments.
ticket to jeff buckley's
last ever australian show given away to avoid bumping into recent ex who bought the fucking ticket for me and his new squeeze. Jeeeefffffffff forgive meeeee...i should have gone and thrown up on them both so they had to go home.
