Has anyone been watching Organ TV on sky?
It's been playing cool videos by non-mainstream bands - any band who has basically made the effort to make a cool video like 65 Days of Static, Cats and Cats and Cats, Colt, Pure Reason Revolution, Weapons.
They really need some support at the moment. I really like what they're trying to do. Bands like these don't get the TV exposure they need and someone is trying to do something about it. Leave them some messages of support at www.myspace.com/organ before the suits close them down. come on! even if you don't have sky to watch it like me. If you do have sky see it on Sky Channel 173 Open Access 2 10.30pm every Wednesday.

Sean Organ is a tosser.
You would not BELIEVE the amount of weirdness, bile, bravado and misplaced aggression I have had from him for entering into a conversation that slightly challenged his views. As much as I like his enterprise and effort, the man is a hypocritical, ignorant and antisocial arsehole.
indeed.
i used to have this really hilarious long email arguements with him when org fanzine went under the first time, and i dared to ask him what would happen to my subscription. he told me i had been written to once and emailed twice about the matter and he had offered me a free CD. i told him i had received none of this correspondance and he was a lying wanker.

...
must......keep......mouth....shut. gnnnnnnnnnnnnn.
i thought it was just me
he used to send me massive tirades about how i was doing absolutely everything for the wrong reasons (usually on public mailing lists or forums) and refused to cover any of our bands and told me to stop sending him promos, even tho they'd previously written nice things about jeniferever, for instance. that's how much its about the music.
he has sent me some of the most agressive emails i have ever recieved. his viewpoints are a childish mess and he thinks that this arrogance and ignorance of a wider world and getting involved in any shape or form with 'the industry' or business instantly makes everyone one of the devils own. he used to hate me because in my first fanzine i reviewed Muse's demo (saying it was one of the most exciting demos i'd ever heard) and then i shockingly to him, continued to like them. i was only 16 and there was this guy telling me how wrong i was.
in fact, i'm surprised he still continues because surely he sees all of these bands split up time after time and them not get any recognition outside of a small cluster of people. outside of a cluster of people on these boards who's going spend time watching a band as big in our world as 65days of Static, etc... i used to goto his nights and they'd be pretty much empty and i'd read Organ and it'd be full of mistakes and terrible terrible writing.
i think in many ways he inspired me to do almost completely the opposite.
when he started organ TV the first time a few years ago
he asked for suggestions for artists to play. i emailed him a couple. he told me he wouldn't play them as they hadn't "supported ORG enough in the past".
so... all about the music, then.
......
I would recount my dealings with this man but i wont because it really depresses me that someone i used to have respect for turned out to have none of the qualities i expected.
ah yes
you're advertised-but-never-occuring EP on his label, you mean?
....
that would be the one, the story behind it is so petty and ridiculous it makes me cringe just thinking about it.
Same here Daniel!
Exactly the same. And so i said "what do you want us to do to help you? you have never asked us for anything" and he said "talk organ up, take it on tour, etc" and i said I'd be more than happy to do that, and lots more. And it ended with him saying (check out how DIY this is lol) "nobody cares about your poxy little label - but we have a TV SHOW NOW" and making out he was all big time.
What a hypocrite. Nothing cooperative or DIY about him. He's an arrogant prick.
I got SO wound up over the email conversation we had that in the end I redirected his emails to my trash basket so I didn't have to suffer them any more.
....
We've saved the ones he sent us, y'know, just in case.
He is one of the finest examples of someone who should be denied internet access.
Phil!
How's it going? Sidearm got any gigs soon?
Sean is simply....
A 12 year old boy inside a 60 year old body. If it isn't exactly how he thinks it should be, he'll cry. Simple.
The analogy of a cat has been used many a time. Stroke his ego and he'll purr for you, ignore him and he'll scratch!
You should read the myspace bulletin he wrote about us, really really funny!
And sean (DiS), funny how he's getting his mates (I assume), to promote him through what he constantly refers to as the music worlds shit pit isn't it...funny indeed!
happy cause
he emailed me today to say he didnt really like our single that i sent him for review thats coming out in october. not his thing he said. which i dont get as surely you sholuld pull it a part a bit more than that. and you know how you only remember the bad things people say about your music...well now i'm gonna forget it all thanks to you people. he called me 'polite' in the (12 word) review. mundanity is the WORST. but i feel better now, cheers.
my limited experience with his leaves me slightly unwilling to comment
however the Mass Transit incident more than speaks for itself.
this thread
makes me very happy. i thought it was just me who didn't have any time for this guy. as everyone else has said, he's rude, childish, petty and seems to remember things that didn't happen, yet forget all of the offers of help i have ever made him, even when i forwarded the previous emails which made it very clear. there's not many people i've come across who i really can't stand but if we were to have an awards ceremony, he would definitely get my vote for biggest weirdo
Wow, you too?
He's really managed to make himself popular hasn't he...
i'm surprised he hasn't popped up
with a rant.
maybe we'll feature on his (actually hilarious) myspace blog?
i don't know...
...this guy or the stuff he's done. i've never read organ magazine or watched organ tv, though i was excited by the thought of it when i heard about it, even though i don't have sky. i thought kudos for somene to try it. however, from the comments here, it sounds like this guy is just stroking his ego with his own cool little media empire. he'll soon learn that you can't run a tv channel by only covering the things you like personally. especially if you alienate your core audience by being a dick to them.
funny......
how this thread started off as a positive thing! but because MR. O has been so nice to the people he needs there has been nothing positive said about Organ in general. Ive heard nothing but bad stuff about this guy from the labels and bands i know, whome for the record are all top genuine people.
Hopefully Organ will wither and die, because even tho the Theory of Organ is good, the actual thing is not all that! Power to the people!
I've got to be careful what I say
...but yeah, I've heard similar stories. That's probably as much as I can say.
Hmm.
I know what you're all talking about. He's been a cock to me in the past. But equally, or perhaps more than that, he's championed a lot of worthy bands and causes. For sure, he's got a bee in his bonnet that'll sting anyone who catches him on a bad day, but on the whole, I think, his ethos is sound, and he and Marina must work bloody hard to keep the whole operation going between them. Marina's lovely, by the way.
I was excited about Organ TV in writing, and a little disappointed by the reality...I think the problem is probably that they repeat too many videos from week to week, perhaps because not enough bands of an Organ bent have made videos (or videos worth broadcasting). If anyone has a decent video of their band, send it to Organ (see www.organart.com). They may not broadcast it, but they'll certainly watch it (eventually) and if they DO like it, it may end up on the box (not The Box). Then they may get a more diverse rotation on the go. My other gripe with Organ TV is that it's just too short! Half an hour a week (albeit repeated later) isn't enough time to offset the imbalance of rubbish, overexposed mega-bands that the major label publicity cannon blasts out 24 hours a day.
What I understand...
...based on never meeting the gentleman in question. I have had a single MySpace message from him, I think.
He is passionate, but misplaces his passion. It can be interpreted as aggression with no direction, with no real purpose, because of the language employed.
I'm sure he IS a nice guy, but... the repeated swipes at the alleged evils of the industry - I think DiS is one, apparently - just bring his magazine down. I could overlook the multiple spelling errors and the awful design IF its heart was in the right place. But I'm not certain that it is. The whole us versus them thing... why subscribe to it at such a lowly level?
I dunno. Some of the videos they show are great. Others are cack, but it's not like they've a massive pool to pick from. Ho hum...
...I should go to bed.
He once advertised a single...
...that they ended up never releasing.
Nobody got their money back.
