I just (again) heard Bowie do the Kinks' Waterloo Sunset. Can't freakin' believe he left it off the domestic issue, so now I've got drop $25 on the Japanese import, if I can find it. Lemme borrow a phrase: bollocks that!

But that's not why I'm calling. Give us yer best cover songs (and remind me who originally did them cos sometimes I'm real slow.)

Johnny Cash - I Won't Back Down (Tom Petty). So many to choose from in the American Recordings series.
Jimi Hendrix - All Along The Watch Tower (Bob Dylan). Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen).

Good choices there, Rock! I like the cover of the NIN tune Johnny does, too. And the Hendrix version of Watch Tower is the definitive version, que no? And how many stars owe one of their big hits to Leonard Cohen?

This is for you Rocky. How about Siouxsie's Dear Prudence, or better yet, her Helter Skelter. Mmm, yummy!!

the worst cover i can think of right now is the new song by rachael stevens....
although that was a TERRIBLE song in the first place!

Rarely is the cover better than the original but AATWT certainly is, in my opinion.

Motley Crue's 'Helter Skelter' has never been bettered.

Bowies Cactus by Pixies was good but not the best. Maybe Pixies Honey Pie. The last Johnny Cash album is choc full of good (and bad covers. Bridge over troubled water was good, Danny Boy was ill advised.
