The Rakes boycott... erm, Burberry

"The Rakes frontman Alan Donohoe has written to Burberry asking them to stop using real fur in their designs. The singer has stated that the band will not shop at the fashion house or participate in any of their advertising campaigns until the policy is reversed."

Now, not wanting to take the piss too much, because it's obviously a worthy cause and there's no justification or indeed neccesity for using real fur, etc. etc, other than callous idiotic vanity.... but is that not about one of the most feeble threats you've ever heard? Almost to the point that it satirically undermines the campaign? Will Burberry give two hoots that an average, and essentially cult, indie band don't want to wear their clothes or be in their adverts? Are Rakes fans rabid consumers of their products anyway? I'd hardly think so.

Could be wrong of course.

Agreed...

i thought just that on reading it...I'm not a Rakes fan though so maybe i'm missing something (to do with this story).

I expect that some Burbury executive is at this moment

reading through that letter and thinking "ho is The Rakes?".

yeah

they sound like wankers to me...

let's boycott them...

-=stroking fur lined collar=-

Quite!

And could I just addd... "fashion house"!!?!?

It's a fucking "naff clothes shop"!

it's not, actually

it's a very expensive designer brand. It's just that their recognisable 'Burberry check' has become popular (well, erm...) and copied. And they're not happy.

But yes, are we missing something? Have The Rakes ever worn Burberry?

ok... accepted.

*retracts cheap dig*

The reaction at Burberry

assuming that they have ever heard of The Rakes, which is unlikely, will be "Thank fuck for that!"
