Hello April, goodbye March. As we sit through Easter still desperately waiting for a more-
than-fleeting gimpse of the sun, we at least had a whole
more bunch of records to ease our pain with perhaps not as many as the vast splurge of
recordings that appeared in January and February, but still very much
enough; With so
many reviews passing through these pages though, it could be quite easy to miss
something special, or avoid making a poor purchasing decision.
DiS
gives you the ten records that aren't necessarily the best, nor the most
high-profile, but arguably the LPs which have raised the most eyebrows or sent
people limp with disappointment.

A preening, sheening
glazed Krispy Kreme of a pop album that seems to allure some yet reject just as many...
regardless, our writer seemed to think that 'Anniemal' is the work of a singer that
'manages to draw you into her after hours world with all the skill and finesse of an expert
snake-charmer'.

Ambulance Ltd-
LP
The indie band's indie band - in America at
least. Having done well with this record stateside, LP finally gets a release over
here and it's largely good... but not totally as our review occasionally clasps his hands in
fret at the occasional Maroon 5 blunder.

A three in one treat, as DiS purveys the re-release of Dino Jr's initial
offerings to the world. As Mike Diver himself intones: "Immortality established, reunion
imminent; what better time is there for a trio of Dinosaur Jr (nee Dinosaur) reissues?".

indeed. America and Bahrain await it seems, and all on the basis of this, their debut
record. Is it really Britpop refried? Or is it another in the glorious traditional of

Bender
Mike Diver says that 'Bender’s eponymous
debut is a record possessing an exposed soul – every song here is delivered with the utmost
passion, albeit in a muted fashion'. Adie Nunn reckons in fact that it makes her want to
stick needles in her eyes. An interesting selection of viewpoints. God bless the
'challenging record'.

The Stereophonics album was the one good song, as I have discovered since my parents bought it and played it endlessly. Engineers leave me very, very cold. The new Idlewild album needs time to grow...I hope. The Mars Volta's newie is a work of genius, and I love it with all my heart. The new Kids Near Water album should be in here.
I also caved in and bought 'Funeral' and it's very, VERY good. I realise I'm probably behind on this one.
