We don't think this is an April Fool of any kind...

Courtney Love is to star as legendary porn star Linda Lovelace in an upcoming biopic.

Daily Variety reports that Love has put pen to paper to star as the Deep Throat actress, real name Linda Boreman, who became a militant feminist after she quit the porn industry and was killed in a car crash at the age of 53. Deep Throat was banned in 23 states, you know.

Love, of course, has dabbled in the not-so-murky world of Hollywood porn before, starring as the wife of Larry Flynt in 1996's The People Vs Larry Flynt. The working title for the new picture is simply Lovelace.

Whats the point of the film,
to me it jsut sounds like an excuse to make a *shock* hollywood soft porn film, with mordern rock people, following where the crappy "9 Songs" finished off.

Dunno.

Linda did a lot once she left the industry, becoming firmly anti-porn as well as a major figure in feminism.
You could say such a stance on pornography is no better than one pushing it to a mass audience - both take away the rights of the would-be viewer. Anyway...

It could be interesting. I doubt very much that Courtney will be laid bare on a bed having a go at herself at any point, a la 9 Songs. This'll be more story, less horny. I mean, Boogie Nights was good, wasn't it?

the article fails to mention the main point of linda lovelace's notoreity - namely that she claimed she was forced against her will by her husband/manager to appear in Deep Throat, in which case the film actually records her being raped. As a consequence the film is cited in loads of feminist anti-porn arguments as a crucial link between the 'pretend' violence and degradation that occurs in some porn films and their subsequent impact upon society.

that might be why they think it will make an interesting film - ?

While researching for a paper I’m writing on Courtney, I came across all your closed minded comments. Maybe instead of insulting Courtney, you should use the time to think of just one thing in your (obviously dull) lives that will be remembered by more than a half a hand full of people. Courtney is a creative genius, who will never be forgotten. I’d bet she has more talent and compassion in her middle finger than all of you combined.

Courtney Love is a creatively bankrupt groupie who made a few rubbish records years ago, and now subscribes to the vacuous Hollywood lifestyle that she craved for years. What will she be remembered for then eh? Being married to Kurt Cobain and having his kid. Yeah, what a fucking genius.
