Is that a Burberry scarf Paul Banks is wearing in the video for this, their third single from the critically-adored album 'Antics'? Are Interpol trying to reach to the masses?

Probably not, although it does appear to be a piece of Burberry attire... however, returning to the point in hand, the notion of Interpol stretching beyond their current level of acclaim seems to be slight - it doesn't matter how much of an excellent progression from debut 'Turn On The Bright Lights' the new record is, you can only reach so many when your writing is immersed in such joyous gloom. But that should worry no-one and please quite a number. 'C'Mere' is certainly not going to do it, being another well-crafted but essentially rent-a-slab of Interpol - not as coruscatingly brilliant as 'Slow Hands' or as self-immolatingly wonderful as 'Evil'. Yes the guitars scorch and hum in the right places and Banks emotes the right feelings, but it's confirmation that Interpol really aren't a singles band. But then again - who cares? We have whole LPs to cherish, what more do you want?

Well, maybe some consistency - man you guys totally sucked at Brixton on Friday. *sigh*...

Interpol - C'Mere

Just bitter from the Gig? I've heard it was really good.

Re: Interpol - C'Mere

Not a good gig, really put me off Interpol now. I guess hearing all of their songs in that context made me realise how boringly formulaic it really is.

Spoon saved the day despite the crowd apathy. They just don't know an absolutely fantastic band when they see one!

Interpol - C'Mere

Friday's gig was the dog's balls - the worst I've ever seen 'em play. But that's neither here nor there; this single's OK, but I would have preferred seeing NARC get a release.

Interpol - C'Mere

Also, what are the band's own remix's of their tracks like?

Interpol - C'Mere

i noticed the burberry :|

Re: Interpol - C'Mere

not saying i was bothered, more ashamed i noticed haha

Re: Interpol - C'Mere

Burberry is still a classy brand outside the british isles. Tis only the UK who have a bad taste in their mouth when they see the check! (for obvious reasons) Interpol are shit live - but the albums are a good listen i reckon.

Interpol - C'Mere

I think the watch around the wrist is also pretty scary

Re: Interpol - C'Mere

Knuckles i meant, i mean wearing a watch around your wrist, that would be scary!

Interpol - C'Mere

He's right. You could talk over the gig on Friday. Quietest band I've ever seen at Brixton. Ah... the ICA, last year !

Re: Interpol - C'Mere

This review is right. Interpol's songs can't be used as radio songs at all. In my opinion, C'mere acts as an intro to Length of Love.

The video is trully crap. Whether it has some meaning I have no idea, but I think Paul Banks should stop posing, and just go back to a sweater and trousers. What is he doing with the watch on his hand, and he never plays his guitar in the video!!!

Re: Interpol - C'Mere

of course the fact that Paul Banks was wearing a burberry scarf at the Astoria gig in March '03 completely blows this trendy allegation out of the water...

Re: Interpol - C'Mere

Decent band, but chav allegations aside....

He wore a scarf. At a gig. Indoors.

Re: Interpol - C'Mere

Who gives a fuck if he was wearing a fucking scarf or not? Or the merits of a watch on the hand, whatever!!

They write great fucking music and are great live. PERIOD!!!

Interpol - C'Mere

Saw them live on Saturday, and yeah, it sucked! The worst I've seen them! :(

Interpol - C'Mere

Very surprised to read you thought Saturday sucked. True I've only seen them twice and it could have been louder, but I thought they rocked it - and the crowd was monumentally up for it. Guess it's that whole two-tales-of-one-gig scenario... it was certainly bang-on down at the front.

Interpol - C'Mere

I'm surprised people though that Saturday night was shit as I thought it was all pretty tight. I think the burberry thing was further confirmed when Paul walked on (seemingly accidentally) in a pretty manky looking hoody.. he quickly removed it though.. LOL

Interpol - C'Mere

He's been wearing that scarf for ages now! Get over it. I would have prefered Take You On a Cruise, but whatever. I couldn't give a figs ass about singles actually. I already like the band, no need to win me over.

Re: Interpol - C'Mere

I agree. At the matador aftershow on saturday Paul was wearing the hoody and an 80s visor. People cant expect Interpol to always wear the suits everywhere they go. They are a fucking good band- Id go and watch them if they played in shell suits- aka Bernard from New Order.

Although Carlos probably wears the suit all the time.

Interpol - C'Mere

Nowt wrong with Burberry scarves...providing the rest of your attire isn't matching, of course!

Interpol - C'Mere

who gives a fuck about what he was wearing? i mean, who gives a fuck? which one of you cunts gives a fuck? which of one you clowns is giving what he was wearing a second of your time? who among you thinks this is worth discussing? what is this? hello magazine? burberry manufacture the brown signature check for how many decades and as soon as the daily reactionist declares it for 'chavs' only it's a point of discussion? expletives fail me. i swear to god if i had one of you in front of me right now i'd tear your fucking head off. i'd push a thumb in your eye socket and rip the fucking thing out. i'd stamp on your fucking head. i'd stick you with a blade and carve a slice out. i'd jump on your head and cave your nothing skull in.

why don't you talk about the music? why don't you talk about the music? why, you woeful cretins, excluding the one or two who bothered, don't you talk about the music?

is this it? oh paul was wearing a hoodie, paul was wearing a visor, paul was wearing a scarf.

IT WAS A FUCKING SCARF. IT WAS JUST A FUCKING SCARF. A FUCKING SCARF.

i swear to god if i were able and if this board manifested itself in physical form i'd walk in and take a machette to most of you. i don't care how old some of you are and how that might excuse the inanities i read here.

and if one of you starts in with the "oh, why don't you just stop reading then?" crap, well, that'll about some you up.

Re: Interpol - C'Mere

I was saying it dosnt matter what they wear- the music stands up, and when they are not on stage they are just 'normal guys'- and illustrated the point about the hoody and visor.

The carlos comment was a joke.

If you want to try and tear my head off, instead of ranting like a nob go ahead. If the music is what matters to you, then you should ignore all this, because, I am sure 'you know better'.

Interpol - C'Mere

hahaha, absolutely what Chrisf said.

Reading this thread does make me wonder just how much you lot give a fuck about music.

Interpol - C'Mere

Moving away from the clothes for a minute. Does anyone think Paul Banks sounds like Justin Hawkins out of the Darkness?

Interpol - C'Mere

ARE YOU SERIOUS?! They were amazing at Brixton, what gig were you at? we were all dancing, singing along, having a great time. They sounded really great. shocked. :(

Interpol - C'Mere

Cant wate until coldplay.....Jus' to see interpol live......The second time ive had to go to a coldplay gig based on the support......Idlewild in '03 Being the last

Interpol - C'Mere

Ok, I know that music is this thing that exists for a number of different reasons, one being just to make people happy... someone mentoned how "we were all dancing, singing along, having a great time..." I think that's a truly beautiful thing for a huge number of people to be together, sharing this thing that makes them all smiley and everything. But when one listens to the line, "the subway, she is a porno. The pavements they are a mess..." blah fuckity blah blah blah If you can, (and I've tried to do this with other songs) try to block the music bit out of your brain, and read the lines to that song. Doesn't the pathology of a 16 year old come to mind?

Isnt there anyone who feels like those lines are just so dripping with utter shit. Does anyone think those lines are profound in some way? I'm curious cos it just reminds me of being in school when I would always meet these fuckin' people who would always want to show you their horrible "poems" the minute they found out you were a writer or an artist. You find yourself inevidebly thinking, "This is really crap! What do I say as I hand this back, only to be met with a whole notebook filled with scribblings just like it or worse.

<ONE MORE TIME!> (*crowd sings along) THE SUBWAY SHE IS A PORNO! (*lighters ablaze, as the crowds sways to and fro. As Paul extends mic into the crowd,) THE PAVEMENTS, THEY ARE A MESS!! (*back to Paul now) I KNOW YOU'VE SUPPORTED ME FOR A LONG TIME, BUT SOMEHOW I'M NOT IMPRESSED.

Interpol - C'Mere

I love NYC and was gutted they didnt play it Sat night at Brixton (which was phenominal by the way) so in this instance those lyrics dont bother me in the slightest, I just love the simplicity of the song, and how it makes me feel, it could be sang in a language I dont understand, I'd still love it.

C'mere is a good album track, would rather have seen Next Exit as the next single.

great song

C'mere is a good track. In matter of fact, its not only a good song its a great song. Take notice of the hauntinly romantic lyrics. its like, you listen to it and then you cant get the song out of your head. Esp what does it for me, is "its way too late, to be this locked inside ourselves". Is a great song!!!
