And some more fun festival info....

The Orange Evolution Music Festival will be taking over the North East May 19-30th this summer. Newcastle and Gateshead will be home to over 30 indoor gigs that will take place over the course of the festival. Also, on Bank Holiday Monday (Monday the 30th), the Quaysides of these two venues will play host to a free music festival spread over three sites. It's expected that over 25,000 people will be there. Peer pressure says you better be there, too.

For the free outdoor stages, the following acts have been confirmed:

The Innovation Stage @ Spillers Quay: Dizzee Rascal, The Ordinary Boys, Super Furry Animals, Mylo and Dogs Die in Hot Cars, The Rakes, and El Presidente.

The Imagination Stage @ Baltic Sqaure: The Futureheads, The Others, Carbon Silicon, Fightstar, Hard Fi, Vatican DC, Kubichek, and Boy Kill Boy.

The Inspiration Stage @ Quayside East: Candi Staton, Misty in Roots, American Music Club, Kristin Hersch, Martin Stephenson & The Daintees, and Vic Goddard.

Throughout the week leading up to the free concerts on the 30th, you'll be able to see acts such as Jason Pierce (and his band Spiritualized), KT Tunstall, The Resentments, Tsunami Bomb, and Doug McLeod and Brendon Croker, among others.

Bastard have taken the gloss off Middlesbrough Music Live now, they'll both probably be on the same day, so the crowds will be split.

Unless MML isn't going ahead this year or something?

Re: Orange Evolution Festival set for this May

There's another free and much bigger and better festival taking place outdoors in Sunderland for Radio 1's One Big Weekend. Foo Fighters, The Bravery, KT Tunstall, Gwen Stefani, Maximo Park, Black Eyed Peas, Futureheads, Athlete. Details were released in the local rag which called the Sunderland Echo, no details as yet on the R1 web site. Should be a cracker. Thanks to The Futureheads and the Golden Virgins Sunderland has been brought out of the shadow of Newcastle for its weekend of glory. And yes the Foo Fighters ARE headlining a gig in Sunderland, big up!

Re: Orange Evolution Festival set for this May

It's bizarre isn't it. I'm gutted I won't be back for this cos of fecking exams. Although the Super Furry Animals etc looks a bit better to me.

Re: Orange Evolution Festival set for this May

Aye the problem with the Radio 1 big weekend is that it's in Sunderland. Expect a strict dress code affording entry only if dressed in Burberry from head to toe, large gold hopp earings obligitory and no entry without a pair of reebok classics. Line Up is good but the location will mean that it will be you and 29,999 charvs supping white lighting and smoking industrial tack. Evolution is gonna be a much better experience

Evolution is going to be better than One Big Weekend??? Seriously?? The Foo Fighters are playing, or did you miss that?

Orange Evolution Festival set for this May

Re: Orange Evolution Festival set for this May
