The problem with Noel as far as i can see was the day he believed his own hype (sometime just after definitely maybe came out) and starting considering himself to be a "serious" songwriter. Jettisoning the drummer who gave the band their punky sound and then the remaining "crap" musicians who all gave the band the sound that made them popular in the first place- replacing them with musicians who may be better technically but have no originality. jettisoning the humorous songs because a few people slagged Digsy's Dinner which made him lose the humour that was an integral greats such as supersonic. Trying to second guess the critics by slagging his own tracks off. Letting the other band members write songs.

I'm sure we all can recall a first single from an album that makes the album look shite, but the following singles are good... sometimes.

& the Video to 'Lyla' is even more OTT & full of tired-old rock'n'roll hyperbole. ie - a C.H.A.V. (Council House And Violent) girl escaping her abusive ethnic boyfriend from a black & white world, into a multi-coloured Alice in Wonderland-style Rock & Roll Circus, featuring... you guessed it - 5 tired old men pulling funny shapes on the guitars to make up for the lack of chorus in the Song...

Oh, dear, I got caught out. I heard this single on XFM and thought bloody hell, just the sound of it... is well, magnificent.. when I found out it was Oasis, for a moment I was gutted and then thought, fair play guys - if that was my honest reaction.
If this was by a new band I am sure others would be going oh my god.. but then in some ways a new band just couldn't make 'that sound' - as for the original point I would have thought a band are so close to their music that what they 'think' are singles and what hooks us on the radio are two different things ( or perhaps Noel is doing a bit of guerilla subversive marketing, saying to us 'hey guys, this is the single but there's even better stuff on the album' .... eh? the sneaky big eye-browed bugger...)

I have, and will always not like the music of Oasis, but what I hate more is the blind hate for the band.I will not buy any album, or single from Oasis. Yet, what I hate more is ignorant close minded responses you see here on DiS. No-one on here (by the looks of it) will buy the new record, but you know that 100,000's perhaps millions of people will.Oasis, and more importantly Noel Gallagher must be laughing his arse off that when ever he opens his mouth, responses like that are on this board start flooding out.Any publicity, is good publicity, at least people are talking bout Oasis (granted much more negative,than positive) but the new album release has already got alot of attention. The sad truth is that Oasis are not going anywhere, and every two/three years they will release an album, please people LIVE WITH IT!!!!!!!!
