Plan B

So, the most loved/loathed (marmite) music magazine on the market has gone monthly, and gone into WHSmiths. Free CD this month, and a brilliant live review of CSS from Miss AMP (about boners and boys and freakyhott rock n roll parties). Anyone reading it? I love Plan B. For all it's faults, it's by far the best thing out there.

It is good

I learn more about new bands of whom I wasn't previously aware, than I learn from anywhere else.

(Minor quibble is that some of the reviews look like they were written on the way home from the gig on a night bus, but that's not the regular writers, who are all fine.)

and the pictures are pretty

I saw one maybe a year ago I want to see it again. A male singersongerwriter, maybe M ward? Danielson? Papa M? or possibly not, his hands were cupped in the shape of a heart, it was BEEE UTIFUL. i want to see it again.

I buy it when I can

But since my subscription ran out it hasn't been that frequent.

I think it's ace though.

what is it?

i thought it was a person who sung songs.

I'm a huge fan

for all the good reasons above. And the CSS review was spot on.

...

its well good, the photography and writing is (usually) excellent and they arent too arsey about who/what they cover.

I like it.

Although it feels a little like hard work sometimes, and as long as there isn't too much self gratification by Everett True.

Then again it's much easier to get through then The Wire, which I also purchase on occasion.

I recently

got a subscription to Plan B, it's been rather wonderful so far.

my favourite magazine at the mo

always seems to have loads of bands in that i'v never heard of who i then hear months later. whoever/whatever it's writing about it seems to be entertaining and it doesn't matter if you've heard of the band or not. at the same time i can see why some people hate it as it doesn't write about music the way most magazines do. i'm pleased it's gone monthly but i'm not sure i have enough time to get through the issue in just a month :S the cd was good but maybe it would have been better if they'd let me hear some of the even more obscure bands they write about. but that's just me.

I like it.

The writing is definitely quite hit and miss, but I generally enjoy reading it. The interviews are normally good too, espeically the one they had with the knife a while back.

Plus it's pretty. The design is great and the photography and illustrations are always really good.

how much

is it?

Excellent writing, graphic design & photography.

It covers an incredibly large selection of music in a reasonable about of detail, even bands I love that receive zero coverage elsewhere, like Thanksgiving.

It means I can read about the less well known bands I love without having to deal with the Wire's pretension and ridiculous elitism. And the quality of the journalism is streets ahead of most internet sites, Pitchfork and DiS included.

Overall its a totally ace magazine and I hope it continues to do well.

the

free cd with this issue is good.

makes me want to buy the electrelane and hawk and a hacksaw album now.

I like it

Bought the latest one today, in fact

I also like Clash magazine. Although they seem to rely on sticking a mainstream (and usually pretty shite) band on the cover to sell copies

I think I slightly prefer Clash to Plan B, overall

I ain't buying Clash

Because that flickering ad at the side of the page pissed me right off x 10. For ages.

I think Plan B is quite special and different from other music magazines. Precocious.

I love it

I want to buy all the back issues. The writing's great, the design and photography are gorgeous, and the paper is lovely to the touch and smells nice!

My only criticism would be that they never seem to review anything they don't like! Although really this only annoys me as it makes me want to buy everything they write about...

I'll sell you mine

Arcade Fire, Feb 2005, only a pahhhnd!

I love it too

because it's the kind of magazine that believes in music and wants you to understand where they're coming from too, which is something that even with this Internet-enabled explosion in music writing is very hard to catch properly.

And possibly also because I know one of the feature writers.

utter wank...

where does the cunt get that stupid voice

.

He's a bit of a bellend to be fair.

Blad.
