We cry indoors? The Tears do in-stores...

anyone else think they're a bit naff?
not shit, just naff y'know?

Re: We cry indoors? The Tears do in-stores...

From what I've heard, shit is probably closer to the mark. This was a chance for them to do something completely different to Suede, but Refugees just sounds like Suede on an off day.

Re: We cry indoors? The Tears do in-stores...

Not that gone on the song, but it was a nice opportunity to finally get Bernard's scribble on Dogmanstar and Sci Fi Lullabies, along with the entire final line-up of Suede. Aaah!

We cry indoors? The Tears do in-stores...

is this one of those annoying things that requires a wristband or open to anyone who shows up at the time?

We cry indoors? The Tears do in-stores...

anyone else think they're had bills to pay and decided to take advantage of the current shit-pop resurgance to make money out of people who were too young at the time but claim to be massive fans now because the nme said it was ok?

Re: We cry indoors? The Tears do in-stores...

Yes, because there's no way at all that people could actually become massive fans of a band after they've split up, or would check out any music without the approval of the NME.

We cry indoors? The Tears do in-stores...

Nah. Old mates getting back together to play some tunes and make a bit of cold hard cash on the side. Nothing wrong with that, unless the record is poor. And even a record of 'Coming up' standards will be a comparative return to form.

Nice play on 'We laugh indoors' in the headline, btw...

Problem is (at least with the single, the only thing I've heard to date)... Bernard writes brilliant tunes. I wish he had taken them for a McAlmont and Butler record. Much as I loved early Suede (and some of the later stuff), I don't need any more dogs/skyscrapers-type lyrical huffpuff...

We cry indoors? The Tears do in-stores...

I saw their Manchester gig earlier in the year. 'Fraid to say it, but "yesterday's men" sprang to mind. I was a massive Suede fan from their first Peel session, but lost interest when Butler did one. He's still the moon on a stick as far as guitarists go. Flash bastard.

On an unrelated Beckhamesque note, Brett's hair looked like his Mum had cut it with a bowl on Jonathan Ross last night.

For fucks sake man, use some gel, some mousse, anything!

On another note, Jonothan Ross was filmed on Thursday, and last night, which was Friday, I saw them in Portsmouth, and they were wearing the excact same clothes from the Jonothan Ross show (actually got home from the gig in time to see them on tv). I think they're brilliant though, true I was too young to give a toss when Suede were about (I was 6 when Butler left) but that doesn't mean I don't love them now, and it has nothing to do with the NME. The Tears are just as good as the early Suede stuff, and even better than some of the later stuff.

Re: We cry indoors? The Tears do in-stores...

I suddenly feel very old.

Re: We cry indoors? The Tears do in-stores...

Me too ... not a pleasant sensation....

As for the Tears ... shame, could be good but unfortunately they just remind me of post-Bernard Suede on a shite day .... they're both talented - they need to show some of that talent ....

We cry indoors? The Tears do in-stores...

saw them in Portsmouth friday, worth going for the interplay between B and B alone. Asylum and a new song Europe after the Rain give you the shivers. in a good way.

We cry indoors? The Tears do in-stores...

yeah, i was at the pompey gig too. I didnt know any of the songs but i still loved it. I won't be supprised if they hit the mainstream coz the songs are more pop orientated than i expected. Plenty of singles and a consistent album I hope.

p.s. bernards jacket has got to be about 10 years old

We cry indoors? The Tears do in-stores...

Used to Love suede especially the first two disks. I hope this project is somewhere near any of that.Dont spose anyone could do a review of a tears gig for my zine?

"p.s. bernards jacket has got to be about 10 years old"

That jacket rules.
The interplay between them Friday night was amazing though, especially when Bernard was raising his lip at Brett, so Brett tied him to the microphone stand and left him there. Somehow, those two can still out sex half the bands around today.

Re: We cry indoors? The Tears do in-stores...

oh yeah, im not knocknig it. it rules. im sure ive seen it on him in his suede heyday
