Saddle Creek labelmates Bright Eyes and The Faint are to head out on their 'Digital Ash In A Digital Urn' tour this summer.

Following on from Conor Oberst playing out his acoustic-ish 'I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning' LP, the boy Bright Eyes will be taking the members of The Faint (Joel Petersen, Jacob Thiele and Clark Baechle) round Europe this summer to help interpret his 'Digital Ash...' LP, which was released the same time as '...Morning'.

Oberst and The Faint have already played together at this year's Coachella Festival a fortnight ago and will be doing a five night run at the reputed Webster Hall in New York.

UK-wise, The Faint will be both supporting and backing Oberst at Bright Eye's Somerset House gig in London this July (11th) as well as appearing at Glastonbury, T in The Park and Oxegen.

Additional Bright Eyes musicians on the tour will be Mike Mogis and Gretta Cohn (Cursive), Andy LeMaster (Now It's Overhead) and Shane Aspegren (Berg Sans Nipple). Yeah Yeah Yeah's Nick Zinner will be donning the guitar in the States.

Bright Eyes will be releasing 'Easy/Lucky/Free' on 11th July as a single, and The Faint will be preceding that with their own 'Desperate Guys' release on 20th June.

That's alot of info to take in, non?

Instruments would be better, surely?

Re: Bright Eyes and The Faint - it's a togethernes

Ah, the pleasures of abstaining from all responsibilty to go out gigging on the very first day of a new job.

Re: Bright Eyes and The Faint - it's a togethernes

Yep its the mike mogis.

Come on glastonbury

*looks smug*

Bright Eyes and The Faint - it's a togetherness thing

Yes it is indeed Mike Mogis. Tsk.

Bright Eyes and The Faint - it's a togetherness thing

Conor used to be in the Faint for a bit didn't he?

Re: Bright Eyes and The Faint - it's a togethernes

Yeah he got kicked out apparently, although i think its more a case of him leaving by mutual consent and the kicking out thing came up to wind up the press...

Re: Bright Eyes and The Faint - it's a togethernes

Hes on their song dust but that was after the kick. He played with todd in commander venus and with clarke in park ave and the interview with conor on fevers and mirrors is todd from the faint pretending to be conor.

Re: Bright Eyes and The Faint - it's a togethernes

Ah, so he was in the Faint. That explains his bi-polar musical releases that range from emo to experimental. I have to say, I've always maintained Obest is just too overrated, but after seeing his passionate Bush-bashing performance of Leno, I don't think he's "too overrated" anymore! Now, I consider him to be slightly overrated.

Bright Eyes and The Faint - it's a togetherness thing

Christ, you ARE gay for conor....

Bright Eyes and The Faint - it's a togetherness thing

i was going to see BE at somerset house, but i fucked up some dates, and it turns out i will be on the way to paris when they're playing, so i've had to sell the tickets.

i have told no one else this because i am so ashamed.

Re: Bright Eyes and The Faint - it's a togetherness thing

cancel paris it will always be there, where as these will be the only digital ash shows ever

Bright Eyes and The Faint - it's a togetherness thing

I would give somebody elses leg to go to one of these gigs. It would be one of the greatest gigs of all time, provided The Faint got enough stage time. Oh, and "Desperate Guys" would go to number one in a sane and fair world, though does seem like an old song by now.

Bright Eyes and The Faint - it's a togetherness thing

Does anyone know if hes only playing stuff from Digital Ash on this album? because I don't want to fork out £30 if he is....

Re: Bright Eyes and The Faint - it's a togetherness thing

well the playing with the faint suggests a leaning towards that.
and he focused on 'wide awake' last time out.
but... I imagine there'll be a fair mix. cos that's only fair.

Re: Bright Eyes and The Faint - it's a togethernes

Likely to be a lot of digital ash stuff (note the name of the tour), and probably some of the more electronica stuff of the earlier albums. But i dont think he'll only play digital ash stuff

Jammin'

What a great concert that was! Totally was about four or five months ago and seems like yesterday. Love.
