Mighty Radiohead website, www.greenplastic.com, reports that Radiohead are back in the studio and have been working on 15 new songs.

Apparently, the band recently got together in the studio to play through new material, with two of the aforementioned dozen-and-a-bit tunes "already done and amazing". The story continues as saying "They are in high spirits and happy to be playing together. The band first got together back in January and Thom played a bunch of his new songs for the others. Having never heard the songs before, the rest of the band just jumped in and started adding their own parts. The whole recording process has been described as "unorganized" and very different than the way Radiohead has recorded before".

Expect new Radiohead stuff early next year. That long? Bah.

Radiohead back in the studio

As much as I love Radiohead

Haven't they said this about every album since Ok Computer?

Oh well, Just let us know when it's done and that'd be lovely.

Radiohead back in the studio

*happy*

Radiohead back in the studio

its better news than Sony getting Fierce Panda to do their PR work for them - hurrah for Thom York et al

Re: Radiohead back in the studio

Hu-fucking-zzah!

I remember reading something about how the writing processes for HTTT and OKC were pretty similar in that they sent tapes of stuff they'd been working on to each other, so I don't think they've all been different.
Anyhow, I am full of confidence of the highest order that this will be very good indeed.

Re: I have nothing to contribute to this

who cares how they write - they are still head and shoulders above even the best bands going

Radiohead back in the studio

Ah good.
They are still the best band in the world.
No question.

Radiohead back in the studio

jolly good!

Radiohead back in the studio

*yawn*

RH are just too hit and miss. It may be brilliant, or I may hate it. But then again, that's radiohead.

Radiohead back in the studio

I'm a Radiohead fan - but could they, like, write a few tunes this time?

Hands up who has listened to Hail To The Thief more than, say, five times.

Re: Radiohead back in the studio

*sticks hand in the air*

Re: Radiohead back in the studio

*raises hand*

It's my favourite Radiohead album... I think.
Well, OK Computer aside.
Second, then.

Re: Radiohead back in the studio

I'm confused. I've listened to Kid A and Amnesiac more, and I'm usually a bit of a pop head. Hmmm.

Re: Radiohead back in the studio

You're not a radiohead fan. And how can you complain about a lack of tunes if you like those abominations?

; )

Re: Radiohead back in the studio

I'm gonna agree with Mike here. Hail to the Thief is also my favourite Radiohead album. My girlfriend laughs at me for this but i think that it has the right mix between the guitar sound (scatterbrain, go to sleep) and the electronic (the gloaming, backdrifts). I CANT WAIT for new material, i heard that Arpeggi from Jonnys ether festival set is going to possibly be used for their new album as a collective piece.

Re: Radiohead back in the studio

I've listened to HTTT as much as any of their albums.
I couldn't name my favourite, though Pablo Honey is their worst.

Re: Radiohead back in the studio

I must've listened to HTTT about 50-100 times.

Amnesiac and Kid A even more.

OK Comp is probably my least-listened-to Radiohead album.

Re: Radiohead back in the studio

Wow, you listen to Ok Comp less than Pablo Honey? :-O

HTTT was a great album, I've listented to it lots. Still love Kid A the most though.

Radiohead back in the studio

I'd like them to either get in a full horn section in the studio, or go the other way from electronic influences & make a totally acoustic/organic record that is completely unreliant on technology one bit, other than a mic and obviously the recording & mastering processes.

Re: Radiohead back in the studio

ha-rah for radiohead!

Re: Radiohead back in the studio

with me, Kid A has developed from a messy, directionless album, to a being of pure genius - not sure how it happened, but it did

Saying that, HTTT is a far superior album - almost on a par with OK Computer, but not quite

Looking forward to seeing how the new stuff turns out

Radiohead back in the studio

Whooo!

*does a silly little dance*

Re: Radiohead back in the studio

Do they need another album? :-|

Radiohead back in the studio

i hope the next lp is a 12 tracker...

httt just dragged on that little bit too long.
dont get me wrong - great songs - great lp

but i'd prefer a shorter more concise thing

Radiohead back in the studio

Well. that`s great, isn`t it? I`ll be looking forward to hearing Tom`s mesmerazing voice and out-of the-earth sounds created by jonny. But I do think that Kid A was the climax. Radiohead might go playing for along time and creating more magic music but they`ll never get to do again something so perfect like Kid A.

There must be one truth

This may be a matter of taste but (getting in on the overweening self-confidence associated with internet discussions) I have to say categorically that the best Radiohead albums are Kid A and OK Computer (1=, being too different to really bear comparison - they're just genius, all the way through), followed by Amnesiac (2), Hail to the Thief (3), The Bends (4), and Pablo Honey (5). There can be no debate - although I'm willing to quibble on Amnesiac vs HTTT.

Feel free to disagree. Oh yeah, and I'm also going to stick my head out over the parapet and say the new stuff sounds a bit poo. Feel free to shoot.
