It's hard to believe that only three years have passed since JJ72's criminally underrated 'I To The Sky' long player hit the shelves. Since then, the pendulum of independent rock hasn't just swung to new heights, it's turned itself inside out, upside down and back to front in the process.

Indeed most other bands would have been calling it a day by now and be queueing for their jobseeker's allowances. Not JJ72 it seems. 'She's Gone' merely continues where they left off, combining Mark Greaney's semi-operatic vocal with a swooping crescendo of sound that almost rivals Muse in the anything-a-four-piece-can-do, three-can-do-better stakes.

In fact, 'She's Gone' may even be about departed bass player Hillary Woods, who was probably more renowned for the way she pouted than any musical ability. Not that anyone would notice though, as new bassist Sarah Fox adds a more distinctive, booming sound to their carefully orchestrated musings.

Let's just hope the rest of the world remembers that things weren't all bad in the year 2002 B.K. (Before the Killers); honest - here are JJ72 with the living proof.

JJ72 - She's Gone

That would be the year 1 BK, surely?

Re: JJ72 - She's Gone

If you're being pedantic - and you are - then yes you are correct, it would be 1 BK.

JJ72 - She's Gone

I'm really really looking forward to this single and the album. As you said, I to Sky was extremely harshly overlooked, it's a brilliant album.

JJ72 - She's Gone

Is it me or this is the same artwork as the second Marion album, the one that seen them disappear ?

Re: JJ72 - She's Gone

This is so true!

Re: JJ72 - She's Gone

cor, Marion <3.

JJ72 - She's Gone

Dom, perhaps you should alter the DiS JJ72 page to reflect the 'new' line up! :-D

Re: JJ72 - She's Gone

Done!

Re: JJ72 - She's Gone

going to see them at the Joiners and can't fecking wait! absolutely loved I To Sky, even if it did take a couple of months for it's beauty to shine through, hope the new stuff follows suit

Re: JJ72 - She's Gone

i think i may have that album somewhere. i really liked the obvious single...did they release it as a single? 'serpent sky' it was. that was good. reeeal good.

JJ72 - She's Gone

that blokes voice is terrible.

JJ72 - She's Gone

This reminds me of that wonderful day - it must have been about 18 months ago now - that I heard JJ72's original bassist had left, eliminating at a stroke my only reason for liking this band. Y'know, besides the chipmunk singing...

JJ72 - She's Gone

I listened to the first album the other week. The whole opera voice thing is just too much, really really grates after about 4 songs. Maybe he tones it down on the new album? Please?

JJ72 - She's Gone

heard the new track on radio yesterday - sounds excellent - almost as good as the glasgow show at Tuts

JJ72 - She's Gone

i didn't know that they had any fans left. so people actually like that guy's voice? and those poor, lonely teen years lyrics? she was fit, though.
