The church accused the band of promoting devil worship, and urged organisers behind their Monday night (3oth May) show to pull the plug. Of course, their appeals came to nothing, but the following makes for amusing reading.
An official statement from the church read: "Public institutions must do their duty and protect Greek citizens from any public event that promotes Satanism. The members of the band have a shocking appearance, wearing black uniforms and masks that look like skulls."
Which suggests they never listened to the music, or else they'd have it banned on quality grounds alone.

Not a massive fan of the 'Knot, but when you're writing under the generic 'DiS news' banner wouldn't it be better to keep it objective if you don't want to drive people away?
Re: Masks that look like skulls? Knot allowed in Greece!
( i used to live with a family who were big on their church thing. we once had most of the congregation round to sing hyms. Oh goody what fun. I played Slipknot very loudly. I think it upset them as they chucked me out not to long afterwards. You live you learn.)

It’s a good comment if it was the Catholic Church. But it is moronic in that the Greek church has no such problems with alter boys, due to the fact that the Greek orthodox church priest can get married and have children, Unlike all the fagot Catholic priests.

It was afunny story but there are much more amusing storis about greek orthodox story at the moment. Apparently according to some videotapes that leaked and got played on greek tv some like the young boys too You'd think the church would want to keep a low profile after half of them were wanted for anything from drugs trafficking to stealing churches.
As long as they don't listen to Slipknot, all their other sins will be forgiven I suppose..
