But having piles and piles of stuff to wade through (most of which is intolerable shit) does put you off going anywhere where records might be present.
I try to buy odds and sods whenever I can - usually 7"s and whatever's lookin' good at gigs, rather than from shops - but haven't bought a proper album since Christmas. And that was for my dad.
But you are right - there is an alt.country hole here. That said, I don't know of a reviewer who could tend to it. My knowledge is poor, at best.

You don't really need much of a knowledge anyway do you? If you just write about the music as opposed to what a lot of reviewers do (*cough* Pitchfork) and just turn every review into a big music journalism piece then you can review anything without knowing much about the genre.
