Regular readers may recall that DiS did Iceland last year, swanning about the Airwaves Festival like we wanted to own the place. Well, guess what? Those Icelandic music types are only doing it all again this year.

The festival takes place from October 19th through until the 23rd at a variety of venues across Reykjavik. Tickets for the event are already on sale internationally from Icelandair outlets (check here for online information). Bands already confirmed include:

Jan Mayen
Leaves
Mínus
Gus Gus
The Zutons
José Gonzales
The (International) Noise Conspiracy
The Mitchell Brothers
Zoot Woman
The Fiery Furnaces

Many more acts - both domestic and international - have been announced, with more to come. Check the festival website for up-to-the-moment information, here.

Kerrang! will host a special night at the festival, as will the Moshi Moshi label.

DiS may also be doing a stage too.

why no björk? :(
why no sigur ros? :( (never actually heard s.r.'s music though, but somebody told me about it)

Re: Iceland Airwaves Festival - first details, tic

obviously because björk and sigur ros are icelandic they have to be playing..
Just like every british band, ever, should play Glastonbury.

mmm...got my ticket when it was still in the 'earlybird' stage. lots of money off, if i remember correctly. fiery furnaces, that should be mega great. and i haven't heard leaves for many years...what're they like now?

Re: Iceland Airwaves Festival - first details, tickets on sale

they sound a bit like Athlete sound now. Think an even more gutted and tamed Coldplay. Which is a damned shame, because the upbeat/rockier bits of 'Breathe' were the best bits on the album.

Re: Iceland Airwaves Festival - first details, tickets on sale

goddamn. hopefully they'll break out the old material for this...
