BBC bosses hope that the move will boost figures that have dwindled over the course of some years. A revamp by executive producer Andi Peters failed to revive the show's fortunes. The show can now be linked to Radio 1's Sunday Chart Show, and is likely to incorporate more archive footage, a la Top Of The Pops 2.

Fearne Cotton (pictured) will continue to 'present' (and we do use the term as loosely as possible) the show, and will be joined by different guests each week. As previously mentioned on DiS messageboards, Jeremy Clarkson is among the first guests confirmed, alongside the Osbornes and Phill Jupitus.

BBC2 boss Roly Keating told reporters: "Top Of The Pops will be working more closely with Radio 1 continuing to add to our portfolio of great music and performance programmes, making it a natural member of the BBC Two music family."
