A report in a Detroit newspaper, subsequently picked up by MTV, has led to rapper Eminem announcing he's not to quit while on stage in Washington.

Detroit Free Press ran a piece quoting a source in the Eminem camp as claiming that the star would call time on his musical career after a show in Dublin on September 17th. It also stated that his last album, Encore, would be his last.

On stage at Washington's White River Amphitheatre (on the Anger Management Tour), Eminem announced to the crowd: "How many of you all read the tabloids? Cause there's some sh*t goin' around that I'm retiring."

In the fashion typical of an arse, Eminem mooned his fans after mentioning that the offending report ran next to one claiming that the moon was to blow up.

The British dates of the Anger Management Tour, also featuring 50 Cent, look like this:

Eminem: quitting

Eminem is quitting because he is tired of rapping and wants to move on in life. He wants to start a family and wants to just produce music. He also probably wants to get back into acting because he is really famous for being the first white rapper that was really famous and his new album Encore. His Just lose it song set him to the top. I own all of Eminems cds and i have most of his unrelease stuff too. I think he is one of the greatest rappers of my time.

He's the most commercial of your time, not the greatest. I thought he was alright in 8mile, it was an ok flick. hes better than me at acting, i'll give him that lol. Shame hes the weird al yankovic of rap.

Give it up lad, let the chavs buy soemthing else.

i think it would be better for his career if he did retire, i mean from what i've heard he's said pretty much everything hes got to say and the newer material he has produced now seems trite, since we all know that he hates his mother and loves his child etc etc. yawn. But you know not exactly my cup of tea anyway.

I hope nobody kills him. We should all hope he doesn't get caught up in any sort of rap feud of any sort.

If he is killed, he will be praised forever like Kurt Cobain. If we let him stick around for another year, he'll just vanish because people stopped caring.
