As has been widely reported, Bloc Party are to release a remixed version of their Silent Alarm album between records proper. While this usually wouldn't warrant much fuss 'n' bother, just look at some of these tracks:

The Pioneers - M83 Remix

So Here We Are - Four Tet Remix
Luno - Bloc Party versus Death From Above 1979
Plans - Replanned by Mogwai
Compliments - Shibuyaka Remix by Nick Zinner

The remix album comes out through Wichita in September. Expect DiS to put on its happy face and dance naked in the rain... or something similarly stupid.

Yeah, if it wasn't such an all-star lineup for the remixing duties I'd be smellin' a cash cow..

So Here We Are - Four Tet Remix = GREAT.

M83, DFA1979 and Mogwai ones = MEH.

Phones one is ok too, not heard any of the rest.

Ladytron and Whitey could be interesting.

I love the four tet and phones remixes. The m83 on is nice and floaty, although yeah, the mogwai one is more than a little disappointing. Looking forward to hearing the few i've not got.

The Whitey one is absolutely electrifying. He's been subtle, but very effective.

I dislike that a lot of the tracks have already been on other releases, which is becoming something of a Bloc Party trait

I am a big fan but I only have one remix (from a free nme cd) I cant afford to buy every single release of my favourite bands as I have so many, so for me this sounds very cool. :)

yeh but the mogwai remixes often make shitty songs rather great, the best case being manics you stole the sun from my heart.

Got all these apart from the ladytron and ant-gravity mixes. most are pretty good especially this modern love. However the pretty girls make graves mix is very average.

I hear that M83 remix is supposed to be something else.

LOVE the M83 mix, it's fookin' superb.

I'll probably buy this, i own about half of the tracks off various things but i'm interested on hearing the ones i haven't, particually the Ladytron remix of Like Eating Glass: one of the best songs of the year remixed by one of my favourite bands of this decade. Woop!

I like the package. I've got a fair few Bloc Party remixes from singles and stuff but only three of them appear on this. That means I get to hear a load of stuff I missed (although I don't know how I missed it) plus the stuff on the Japanese record I was never gonna be able to afford while it doesn't make it pointless haven't bought the Mystery Jets or Glimmers versions, or Polysics Harajuku Mix. Or the Minotaur Shock remix, for that matter. Mmm.

From my point of view, then, it's a good mix. Bonus.

For anyone wondering, it does have the Minotaur Shock remix of Tulips. It's the secret track tacked annoyingly onto the end of Compliments after ten needless minutes of silence.
