What're the best songs done without reverb, feedback and all that electronic wizardary?

Bowie - Space Oddity circa '75. Great songs work, period.
Smashing Pumpkins - Landslide. Stevie Nicks gave us so much shite... and then she somehow writes a fucking brilliant song. Go figure.
Dandy Warhols - Bohemian Like You. Courtney Taylor-Taylor deserves special credit for amending his name to mock to Gloria Steinham women who won't trade their last name for the ring. And they do a very cool acoustic version of this one.

I kin think of serveral more but I'm gonna let yous round out the list!

Re: Acoustic

Nirvana - Man Who Sold the World, its simply brilliant.
Radiohead - Creep, i hate them but this is a great song.
Muse - Sing for Absolution, came as a b-side with B&H and its so weird its good.

Re: Acoustic

*mumbles something about The Man Who Sold The World being a perfectly good Bowie song somewhat ruined by Mr Cobain*

Re: Acoustic

Shadowboxer by FlyGarricks wins hands down.

Re: Acoustic

A time for Making Do - The Tenderfoot

Re: Acoustic

I just checked that out on Mp3. Nice n' mellow.

Would fit easy on to a Shane Meadows' film soundtrack

Re: Acoustic

Yeah, its a good song

Re: Acoustic

I prefer the Damien Rice acoustic version of creep to Radioheads acoutsice (and 'real' version). jsut incase you were wondering.

Re: Acoustic

I've got a softspot for Nirvanas unplugged version of About A Girl.

Anything by Leo Kottke, especially from his Burnt Lips album is good, especially his guitar playing, shit hot.
