Six Black Instores: pop-grungers play for free

Manc-y grungers Nine Black Alps have announced a slew of in-store-type performances to promote upcoming single 'Unsatisfied', out next Monday (8/8).
August
8th Newcastle RPM Records (1pm)
9th London Virgin Megastore, Oxford Street (3pm)
10th Bristol Trinity Community Art Centre (1pm)
11th Birmingham Sunflower Lounge (1pm)
12th Preston Action Records (1pm)
13th Sheffield Royal Society For The Blind (1pm)
Okay, so they're not all in shops, but you get the idea: these aren't 'regular' gigs. The gigs are free, too.
'Unsatisfied' is Colin and Edith's single of the week, y'know; if that doesn't make you buy it, we don't see what will.

Well I'm just off the Gloucester road so that sounds walkable to me. I just have to decide now whether it's worth getting out of bed for.

It sure is walkable (though it might be a trek if you live up as far as Horfield)
I live just off Gloucester Rd near the Goose and that Scream pub. I'll be at work though. I really like NBA.

Oddly enough, I'll be living five minutes' walk from there from the end of August. But right now, getting there would be a pain. Especially with working and everything.

I've lived right near the Arches for the last 3 years, moved a bit further up on July 1st. Gloucester Road is the best place

yea you can walk there but it is a bit of a trek. me, id get the bus. smile is pretty much under the arches (jusr before gl rd) crappy rip off mini 'supermarket'...so yea we probably use the same somerfield too. small world eh?

and just to make it even smaller ive added 2 + 2 together and figured you study in Q block at frenchay...correct?

Oh dear UWE sudent alert. I used to live next door to some UWE students, the smashed their front door off their house 4 times in a year. We never figured out how/why.

I'm not trying to imply anything in general. Just all the UWE students I've ever met were mad. Bristol students on the other hand are usually posh wankers. I must be one of the only proles in the whole uni.

any of the Kingswood, Staple Hill, Hanham or Park Estate buses go past it. probably others too.
if you're gonna walk from the centre, its a long straight trek up through old market, take about half an hour at a guess.

I seen them twice and enjoyed it both times. WHat do you dislike about their live show?
Both times I've seen them they've been quiet between songs, but the songs are played well enough, and I like they way they drop their guitars and walk off very quickly at the end.

They are getting better actually, still not gonna set your world on fire but not bad - give em a chance now they have had a chance to get a bit more confident onstage.

Utterly sick of this band being compared to Nirvana and The Vines, there is no comparison. Notice how Kasabian were always compared to the Happy Mondays, Stone Roses and Primal Scream now you'd be laughed at and asked "whaaaat?!".The same will will happen with NBA and all the tone-deaf critics/haters will be eating their words.

I also don't see how you can say that there is no comparison between 9BA and Nirvana, especially if you've seen them live.
