Conor Oberst - he of Bright Eyes fame - has been talking about his forthcoming album, the follow-up to the twin 2005 releases of I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning and Digital Ash In A Digital Urn.
Oberst told Spin that recent disasters about the world - such as Hurricane Katrina in the US and the Indonesian tsunami 2004 - have had an impact upon his songwriting.
The singer commented: "The apocalypse is a prevalent theme in my new songs. There's a feeling in the world right now like everything is unravelling, but maybe that's not a bad thing. I'm not convinced that the human race is good for this planet anyway."
The as-yet-untitled long-player - Oberst's sixth as Bright Eyes - is due out early next year. It's expected to be a country-driven affair, and "telepathy is a big theme".
G'wan then, what am I thinking right now...
I am looking forward
to this
:):):)
Adlestrop -you're thinking
"adlestrop?! hmm, where have i heard that word before"
C'mon
Bring on the Apocalypse!
Should be really interesting.
My most anticipated of 2007.
Wow.
He's so thoughtful and caring, not like all those other singer/songwriters. What a guy.
Alas, there is one prooblem; he's shit.
Damn.
^ this
mmmmm
country + teh oberst = delicious.
so when exactly
is oberst going to graduate mental high school?
Come on
He wouldn't be Conor Oberst if he was being all happy etc about things - so long as it's another great album I'm happy.
I love the
"I'm not convinced the human race is good for this planet anyway" quote. Oh man, what a loser.
More often than not
He does sound pretty much like a thirteen year old when he speaks - "Bush is an idiot" being an obvious gem of wisdom.
His lyrics however, wonderful.
In my mind
he is the original EMO
but i love him so much his lyrics despite the depressing topics tend to make me happy and energetic
how strange but he makes me love everything.
i never understand why
he is so important...
listen to Lifted and get back to us..
.
musically, he is bordering on genius
yet, when he opens his fucking mouth to spout some ill-informed and quickyl conceived opinions, i want to push his face into a wall.
that is all.
Wouldn't you rather
he spent his time making amazing music and merely speaking his mind in interviews, rather than making scripted hypocritical statements and shit albums? (i.e. U2?)
i have lifted
and i dont get it either
I Have Lifted...
Overrated.
I do like Wide Awake, though.
Telepathy
I'm guessing you're thinking about octupuses Mike
-
Go on just admit it. All you snobs think hes amazing.
Yay yay
Yay yay hooray!! I love Bright Eyes.
Conor Oberst is possibly one of the most talented musicians around!!
