The masked metallers known to the masses as Slipknot are filing a lawsuit against fast food giants Burger King.

The band are claiming that their image and persona have been hi-jacked by the chain for part of a marketing campaign to promote a new product, Chicken Fries. Apparently, adverts are running showing 'Coq Roq', a fake metal band bearing some similarities to the Iowa outfit, and Slipknot believe that their likeness is being used to influence fans into purchasing Chicken Fries.

Their viral marketing (spit) is mad. They were the people behind the Subservient Chicken website too.

it is quite the commercial. and is such a good. but that is the first thing i thought of. slipknot cmon if you didn't even think of them for one second of the whole commercial your not a true fan. course music is my forte so i should have noticed these things.

Fair play, I say. I'm suing Slipknot. When I was 5 I dressed as monster who scratches vinyl for a silly heavy metal band for Halloween. Imagine my surprise....

Sadly, Slipknot pay no musical homage to the great MB. They just nicked their look and did some kind of pantomime with it.

Anyway, Coq Roq SOUND nothing like Slipknot, and they don't really bear much visual resemblance to them either...unless Shawn 'The Clown' Crahan has recently adopted 'the chicken look'. I say they're just out to make a quick 'buck'. *smirk*
